So hold old are you ?

Although Ive always kept up to date with the latest hardware I haven't really been into the gaming side of PCs since the CS:S days.

I've recently been bitten by the bug again, this time with BC2. Thing is im 30 now and the wife thinks im too old and my mates think im a bit sad :D

My sons though ( 8 and 4 ) think daddy is "super cool"

Early 40's :)

You just need to get someone to give you a good smack around the head for listening to your wife, and you'll be fine :D

Age is only a number. It's as simple as this : it is a hobby, no better or worse than any other, it's your free time. No disrespect, but if others around you can't help but be judgemental then its their issue. ;)

People are more likely to disapprove of something if they don't do it or don't understand.

Hell, I'm only 24 and my gf thinks I'm too old to spend all evening at my pc. Just accept that gaming isn't "cool" and that women will never find it attractive, especially since it detracts from time you could be romancing them the way all their tv shows say you should :p

Yea people 30+ usually get a hard time for playing games, even if it's straight after coming back from work and only 30mins, 'He shouldn't be playing games, hes too old he should be doing something more useful' is what I hear a lot. (Not at me, not near that age yet :p)

But it's just another form of entertainment as is TV, films etc but nobody says there too old if there watching tv for a bit, course if your over 30 and playing 4+ hours a day then maybe your wasting your time but that can be said about anybody of any age.

38 here, with most of my mates all within a year or two of me, all of them gamers. Age has sod all to do with enjoying gaming :)

Does you wife actually have any hobbies of her own, or just resentful that you have something you enjoy doing that your kids think is cool, but she can't join in with?

Exactly. I think it partly has something to do with (in comparison with older generations) gaming not being a main stream activity. If you said I like to read or watch movies then I imagine that would be much more warmly received. :)

Dont get me wrong, I dont get hassle from the wife about the time or money I spend on the PC. I run an IT support company so she knows I need the latest kit (although I rarely give her full price detail :D ).

I think its just the fact people see games as something kids do. I suppose it would be like if my wife started knitting, nothing wrong with it , its just seen as something grannies do :p

37, IT consultant, been messing with computers since the days of the Commodore PET. All my gear is "stuff I need for work" and the missus thinks I'm a bit sad for playing a couple of hours most evenings (EVE at the moment) but she has plenty of hobbies and projects of her own and we have 3 kids 5 and under so frankly she's too busy to take much notice of what I'm doing ;)

37 and still playing computer games, and if my wife complains... I just point out her sad constant use of facebook and its games :)

32 and play on the pc all the time, as does the girlfriend. Ive had the "you should be doing something more your age thing before" from someone who then spends all evening watching carp soaps etc on tv !

41 and play a bit, not as much as I used to due to 2 boys aged 5 and 2. They take up all my time now. Also I'm too tired to play most nights, I put that down to my age

:)

Im nearly 36 and my g/f is 37. I've been a gamer and comuter geek since Acorn BBC days.

If I wanna chat to my g/f on an evening I simply log into world of warcraft. She spends more time on that than I do LOL.

Its a hobby and past time :) just like anything else. Enjoy it while you can.
