Am surpised cars do not log their speed these days

If it ever gets to the stage where the car knows the current speed limit and your speed then the cars shouldn't be allowing you to go above the speed limit rather than dobbing you in.
They already do. Mine shows me the current speed limit on the road and flashes and beeps if I speed.
Ford on other models even go that extra step its called Intelligent Speed Limiter and it will limit the car to the speed of the road.

Yeah my dad's car has a chime if you exceed the speed limit (seems surprisingly accurate as to the current limit) - it also has some integration with the cruise control but won't prevent you from suddenly accelerating over the limit (which would be kind of silly as the system lacks comprehensive realworld context awareness).

The Ford one uses a mix of sign recognition and the sat nav. It even spots the overhead smart motorway signs, and like you say its not a hard limit, if you put your foot down it still speeds up, but anything but full throttle and it wont exceed the limit.
You would think all car manufacturers would be told to include it as standard, and have it on by default like auto stop start.
