AM2? Question

so what will be the main benefit of this?.. if its the same cpu speeds thats just a rip..

their gonna need to be putting the cpu speed well over 3gig before i even get interested in it.. and knowing AMD, it will probably go to 3ghz and what will it be then? a new FX chip thats 600 quid? they need to go way over 3 gig.. anyone agree?
whats so special about 3ghz? They speed kings already...

if you really want 3ghz get a P4....and cry at its poor performance ;)

Why would a new socket for DDR2 ram make the CPU speeds increase? The CPU's are still the same, they just got a DDR2 memory controler and a extra pin.... theres no core changes other than that... No die strinks..... no speed increases.

Why they going to DDR2 i dont know, i think AMD could have afforded to wait till DDR3 and 65nm before going to AM2???? That would make more sence at least, even if they just waited for 65nm (next year?)

Socket AM2 has been delayed, possibly by as much as a whole quarter.

Looks to me like AMD is positioning itself to launch AM2 at the same time as Conroe. Of course it's unlikely DDR2 alone will win this battle, so it suggests to me they have something else up their sleeve. Perhaps some clock speed increments?
i feel they might be having alittle trick here though...

Im thinking they might be nearly ready now, they are just wanting to make a large store of AM2 chips so that when it comes to the release date they dont sell out too fast?
