Those of us that have been PC gaming since before the Pentium and Athlon days have a different ethos it seems, perhaps because we're at different stages of our lives? It has always made most financial sense to only upgrade the pieces of hardware that you absolutely need to. It was more apparent before when hardware and requirements were evolving so rapidly that a purchase today was obsolete within a year, but it is still a good approach for the pocket nowadays
Your spot on with that,Another reason for me is i get the itch once in a while and its nice to pick out something and upgrade it. Rathern than a full rig. Gpu was showing its age, i replaced it. ive got the itch now so ill do cpu and mobo, maybe ram at some point too. Its part of the hobby side of this. Rather then build a super rig each time, its my evoloving thing. I actually enjoy finding the weak part, testing them and then researching. Chatting on here about it then working it all out.Its fun as long as i can game on what i want to.
