Being a time-served wood machinist I can see that invention being widely implemented, and making him a huge pile of money in the process.
I remember being told years ago that it takes something like half a second for you to react to getting your finger caught, in which time you have been cut somewhere in the region of 300,000 times.
I don't think your finger would have to actually touch it either, I'm not sure but with it being static would it arc? I guess you wouldn't want to be earthed.
