Well you did not state where the 50% off price was being being compared to, did you now?
You should very well know that a retailer will use the highest value they can to give the illusion of a greater saving, in this case Amazon used the RRP, which they are perfectly legally allowed to, you wouldn't want them telling porkies or try to be misleading now, would you?

Not sure why the deals would be the same, but in any case, your ability to get a discount on one of the EU Amazon's tends to be product or at least category specific.
That said, I did get a pair of Bose QC25s for £177 from Amazon Spain at the start of the year (which were going for £269 at the time on Amazon UK)
