Amazon going downhill?

To be fair they've got to draw a line somewhere, imagine the madness it would cause if you could cancel things that had been picked, packed and moved to their dispatch area whether they were about to be loaded onto the couriers van then or not.

order picking at an amazon warehouse takes more than 15 minutes and they aren't picking items one at a time they could easily cancel it

This thread is hilarious. Complaining about how good the free delivery is and in fact, being too quick to package your parcel!

If you dont like the service, vote with your feet and shop somewhere else. The reality is, you'll probably keep ordering from Amazon for the convenience and in fact, that makes you part of the problem. This whole thread just sounds like a bunch tantrums being thrown because you're not getting everything for the cheapest possible price, delivered for free, with next/two day delivery.

Normally its people whinging shop such and such isn't fast enough. Where's my stuff dammit?!!! It's been in processing too long!

I'm a prime member but recently Amazon have stopped delivering to me on a Sunday, my stuff is usually delivered by Amazon Logistics and Prime ordered by Sat were delivered Sun.

I have never had a problem with returning items for any reason or cancelling even though it says preparing, maybe they have different rules for Prime members or the fact I spend a fortune with them :)

My Prime expired recently and I'm in two minds whether to renew or not. I don't use Amazon Instant and tbh having Prime just makes me more likely to buy stuff I don't really need. I recently bought a laptop, payed extra for delivery and it turned up two days late in a Yodel van. Must be trying to tell me something. :D

There are people willing to "Share" a prime membership for £15-£25ish

£79 is a joke if you don't want the rubbish LoveFilm service.

Amazon's website has always been appalingly laid out, sadly other sites seem to be going down the same route. Rakuten (used to be Play) have changed there website recently and if you go to music they don't even have charts or future releases anymore. Indeed you're confronted by a list of 800,000 CDs to search through when you first go to their music section.

Never had a problem with Amazon. Always impressed and I'm a prime member.

Sometimes they are priced higher but what do you expect, they can't be the cheapest on every item.

That was never going to be a sustainable business idea, at the end of the day they're there to make money not to act as a charity.

fun fact, they don't make any money and never have done....

(well technically they do make a small profit but it is tiny in comparison to their size and they have never actually paid out a dividend, their aim is just growing and dominating the market which can mean taking a loss in some areas just for the sake of expansion/beating the competition)

Prime member here as we use the TV services and buy enough with them over the year that it's worth it. Also, quite a few other online shops either don't deliver to Northern Ireland or charge double the postage fee. I might pay a couple of pounds more on Amazon sometimes, but the free postage and good customer service (so far) is worth it for that.

I ordered a product today at 4pm and its being delivered tomorrow to me (Sunday!),

What a crappy service! :)

So they destroyed the high streets, made thousands of small businesses bankrupt, paid no tax, abused their workforce, and didn't even get filthy rich doing it??? :p

My last 2 purchases from Amazon required me to speak to them. The first time they sent me a returned toothbrush. Yuk. And the second time, possibly not their fault, but Royal Mail returned the package to sender...

my high street still exists, if some stores can't keep up then that is a good thing, that is how a competitive market is supposed to work - amazon also helps small businesses, new businesses etc.. by opening up its platform to them

why would they pay much in the way of tax if they're not posting much in the way of profits?

I think you'll find the founder is rather asset rich, sure he just doesn't get huge dividends - though he claims he can change that at any point by not growing the business so much

You often find exactly the same seller on eBay selling exactly the same item for quite a bit less. People complain about eBay seller fees but its nothing compared to Amazon's.

I work for a car manufacturer, and we have both eBay and Amazon shops. Was talking to some of the guys who manage them last week, and apparently Amazon take a considerably bigger chunk and offer almost no support, whereas eBay is cheaper, and far more engaging in terms of working with sellers collaboratively.
