Amazon Logistics..

It's a porch that's part of the main house. It's a lockable door into a porch which then leads directly into the living room.

I can't understand why I am wrong for feeling I can be in said living room with my door unlocked.

So there's no door between it and your living room?

you know two separate issues, you don't have to combine them.

So why didnt you mention how unhelpful dropping off a damaged package without notifying Sargatanas2511 was in your comment then? couldnt be bothered? becuase it didnt support your post? because you didnt bother reading past the first paragraph?

The delivery driver did him no favours at all, come on.

Sargatanas2511, talk to amazon and tell them you're unhappy about it. I'm sure they'll replace the pacakge - they are normally very good with these issues - and deal with the driver accordingly.

I'm not really following you - a porch is normally either completely open with a single internal front door or has 2 doors a front and internal.

If you have a different configuration then its probable the driver didn't know until they'd opened the outer door which might be why they then make a quick exit.

a single partially stained glass door as mentioned before. I clearly saw someone in there, I assumed it was my partner and then when they left again I got confused and went to check.

Wouldn't bother with the trespass route, it isn't going to go anywhere. Could you prove it?

I'd be complaining about the state of the parcel though, Amazon are a joke. Guarantee if you speak to them on live chat they copy and paste the same line about an apology, along with a £5 compensation credit on your account. They must use these on a regular basis.

So then he didn't enter your house, he entered your porch. Two separate things.
The whole point of a porch is it's a covered area to provide shelter when someone's at the front door.

I want the knowledge that I can leave my door unlocked while I am at home and not have someone I don't know walking in without permission.

This is naive and totally ignores reality and human nature. If you don't want people walking in without permission then keep your door locked.

There is a single front door to the main house, when you step into that door there is a "porch" or whatever you want to call it where shoes, coats etc are left, then a door into the main living room from there.

This is where he walked into, it's under the main roof of the house and is classed as a room in the house.

OP, you can do one of the following two things:

1.) Be happy you have what you ordered and just forget it.

2.) Moan on Amazon live chat for a bit and potentially get a small amount of Amazon gift credit or something.

There isn't much more to say.

Without seeing what your setup is it doesn't sound like what I'd call a porch :S was someone else on here recently complaining about Amazon drivers opening their only front door and leaving stuff just inside.

So is this a porch or a hallway? As what you have described is the latter in which case it is a completely different kettle of fish

You have a porch right? So the guy probably never came in your front door.

Quite petty to complain really, I'd be quite happy with that arrangement tbh.

I say you complain, your house gets flagged up and then in future the postie will no doubt give the quietest knock ever and you'll forever have late amazon parcels.

Or an increadibly dirty letterbox

He couldn't because there was no trespass. Delivering a parcel that the resident has ordered is about as lawful an excuse as you can get.

What would you pursue with trespass? What loss have you had?
Trespass, unlike most torts, doesn't require any loss to be actionable. Controlling access to your land would be very difficult if it did.
