Amazon Prime Air

Considering the drones will have cameras and lots of detection software/hardware will anyone really chance shooting at it?

In how it looks from law perspective this would not be different to someone robbing a delivery truck/mugging postman etc

Be interesting to see how long before one drops out the sky due to a malfunction.

It would be cool but Amazon would be so much cooler if they invested in teleportation :D.

Imagine having a pad in your house where things just appeared once you clicked buy!

Most the ones I saw were about the size of a drone, the rest were flats with no garden.

No they aren't
And iif you have a flat or somewhere else without a garden, then you'll probably stiffed. But guess what there will still be more than enough customers in the area to justify it.

I see nothing wrong with a UAV hovering around near petrol stations :D

Neither do I :D.

Actually just realised the collect boxes at my local are DHL ones. Do Amazon do that sort of thing too?

Wonder if the Whitehouse or Houses of Parliament will accept Amazon drone deliveries .

Putting a 15 mile radius directly on the Amazon distribution centre in Swansea and it covers pretty much all of Swansea, Bridgend and Llanelli. Impressive.

I can't see this happening in the UK within next 5 years though. Have they even trialled it in a live environment? Seems like a publicity stunt tbh

Yeah there's Amazon lockers all over the place.

I honestly see less need for things to be delivered to your house while you wait. It's more convenient to have stuff delivered to where you're going to be anyway. I quite often get things sent to a locker at Kings Cross so I can pick them up on the way home, as opposed to getting it sent to the office and then having to carry it around.

It wont happen any time soon, however they are trialling it in USA, extremely limited trial in a safe area(no customers or anything like that). However the USA or uk they will have to wait for regulations to catch up with technology. So it's going to be years. Both USA and Europe are both rewriting drone use for commercial though. USA is likely to have new regulations before us.

Agreed. Although I work from home I have had stuff sent to clients to coincide for when I arrive.

Would be cool to see the Amazon app track location and put it to use. Order a new book in the morning and a motorbike delivers it to your exact location as you break for lunch.

I'd assume there is also the push for positive public opinion in there as well.

The more people get interested in the premise the more the CAA and legislators have to listen and consider allowing it, just by the added weight of public opinion.

It's win, win for Amazon (advertising their services, adding weight for their drone delivery).

Are you sure they are trialling it in the U.S.? Last I read they had to jump the border to do their testing in Canada as the FAA wouldn't allow them to do it in the U.S..

Edit: not quite, they are doing some testing in the U.S. But more extensive testing in Canada http://www.cbc.ca/beta/news/technol...-a-secret-site-in-canada-here-s-why-1.3015425
