I received this item at a reduced purchase price or, in some instances, free of charge, so I can test the product and leave my honest, fair and COMPLETELY impartial review of them

DISCLAIMER- I was lucky to have been asked to review this product at a discount, in return for my honest and unbiased opinion which I have given.

etc.

Anyone else getting sick of this BS on Amazon? Lots of these 'reviews' are misleading or downright dishonest. It makes me LESS likely to buy from them than anything.

Yeah, of course your review is impartial and unbiased. Leave a bad review and let's see how many free products you get in the future.

They've tightened the rules now. No longer allowed from a free sample.
Reviewers have, of course, found ways around this which no longer requires the disclaimer.

Only thing that annoys me about them is no one ever seems to offer me products at reduced or free pricing!

I was doing this for years, got loads of free or discounted stuff, Amazon have tightened the rules so Amazon Vine is only allowed.

I always think the Q and A section is worse. Full of unhelpful tat.

Q. Will this Controller work with my PS3?

A. I don't know, i bought it for my nephews birthday, he is 8 on the 23rd. For his party we have invited... and so on.

It's like pulling teeth to have someone answer the bloody question.

Haha yeah there are some right morons answering questions.

I keep coming across frequent ones like "does so and so do this?", to which some idiot responds "i don't know, i haven't used it yet". Why the **** answer a Q&A if you've not used the product yet.

LOL yeah some of the replies make me despair for the human race.

I'm not too bothered by the "bought" reviews though - 9 out of 10 do atleast go into enough detail you can kind of work out the pros and cons for yourself and filter out the BS parts and get a feel for what the product is really like and about half of them actually seem like honest enough feedback i.e. fair few giving an item 4 stars and a balance of positives and negatives.

On a related note - I've had several Amazon sellers who I've bought stuff from this year send me free Christmas gifts this year :D (nothing about reviews or anything) and not cheapy stuff either - think I'm almost upto £100 worth in clothing (albeit largely their own brand hats) and electrical gadgets.

Just noticed that you can filter reviews by 'verified purchase'.

One item has only has around 140 'verified purchase' reviews from a total of nearly 1000!

I agree with the customer Q&A's as well. :D

Can it film in the dark?
Answer: It's a gift so it's not been used yet.

Always look for verified purchase ones, at least you know they actually bought the item. Can't guarantee honest review but you avoid the shills.

Totally agree with the retarded answers to product questions!

Also a big golf clap goes to the people that rate a (genuinely great) product 1-star because it arrived a day late. Or the people that give a 5-star rating with "this looks great - can't wait to try it!!!"

not to give any credit to some of the morons on amazon Q&A, but i think sometimes what happens is they getting an email saying X has asked this question, can you answer it. So they answer it personally rather than either A ignoring it or B giving a proper ****ing response

Ah yeah the 1 star from people who have totally failed to understand the item or had problems through their own very obvious stupidity :(

i wrote a negative review of a sonos speaker stand that was delivered with completely the wrong screw which rendered it useless. The review was calmly written and fair but i got an email saying it was rejected and breached their policies or something. Hmmm

To be fair, that shouldn't have been under product review as it is not a review of the actual product but a review of an issue.

I maybe a meanie but I always dislike reviews that are clearly fake.

"I got this in exchange for a unbiased review"

Yawn lol

annoy for sure. i got my car shipped across the US based on some fair reviews on a comparison site. Once delivered they said I can get $150 discount if I leave a 5* review on the popular comparison site. The service was fine but for me 5* means above and beyond, I wanted to give 4* and tried to convince them them that an honest 4* review is worth the $150 but ope. In the end I couldn't let $150 go after spending $13000 shipping a car.

That's very true when you put it in that context. Makes a lot of sense.

I've seen it before where someone says "oh delivery was 2 days later than expected" as a 1 star review.

They really shouldn't be allowed as a review at all.

Unless of course, it stipulates that this is a review of the sellers conduct.

I very rarely leave a 5 star review on the first use of a seller (which drives some up the wall) - I will if I repeatedly get the same high level of service from them or somewhat ironically if something goes wrong and they go the extra to sort the problem out. I've had a few get funny about it or offer incentives to make it a 5 star.
