This show is going to be awesome. Anyone else looking forward to it? I've been waiting for ages for someone to do a zombie TV show, and it looks like this is gonna be perfect. It's being headed by Frank Darabont (The Shawshank Redemption, The Mist), which is definitely a good sign.

Bring on October!

Looking forward to this myself, the graphic novels are amazing.
Hopefully it won't be too 'niche' and only get one season - that would suck, because that zombie makeup looks great so obviously it's not going to be a cheap heap o' crap.

looks really good, been wanting to read the graphic novels as well
anyone know what channel and when?
First line on the first vid -
Coming to AMC this October.
They also have breaking bad on their schedule. No idea what Brit channel it will end up on though.

oh right! never heard of AMC before :o
hoping it wont be too long until it's on UK TV

Well I'm a huge fan of anything zombie related and been following the comic for some time. Nice to see this picking pace up and really can't wait.

AMC do Breaking Bad too so it's good to know this will be gory since it's not a network show where they can barely get away with saying damn! :D

Just going through castings so far and not sure I'm entirely sold on Andrew Lincoln as Rick Grimes. Aaron Eckhart would look good in the role but frankly would be too expensive, too well known and most likely not even interested in doing TV and this project. Someone like Kenneth Mitchell from Jericho would look quite good in the role and possibly even Peter Krause although might be a little too old for this role.

Everyone else looks pretty good to me, Laurie Holden will look great although worry if she may look a tad older than she should for Audrey? For nerd value wouldn't mind Katee Sackhoff (BSG Starbuck) in the role either though :p

Also my memory probably gone wrong but who are Leon Basset and Merle characters?

Yeah, it'll be interesting to see how Andrew Lincoln does.

There was a rumour earlier in the year that Mark Pellegrino (aka Jacob from Lost) might play Rick Grimes - I think he would have done a really good job.

Yeah he was another one I thought of, but me reckons he's riding high after Lost so probably would be asking for a lot of dollah. This after all is about a rather niche comic book so I can't imagine it's exactly a high budget show and unfortunately I'm expecting it to having to fight for its existence within the first season.

I'm probably just being optimistic, but I actually expect this to do really well.

AMC have taken Breaking Bad through to series 3 so far, and I expect The Walking Dead will have a larger target audience. There are a lot of people that enjoy zombie stuff, and the popularity of things like Left 4 Dead should help.

On top of that, for most shows on the air there are usually 5 or 6 similar ones to contend with, and the ones with the lowest viewing figures get cancelled. But how many zombie shows are broadcasting right now? None. (Has there even been one before?)

All of this, plus the quality of the source material, Darabont writing/directing, the high quality production, and the good cast announced so far - I'd say it's got a pretty good chance of doing well.

Well I'm just being pessimistic, since most shows I like get cancelled. It certainly looks a lot more promising now that production team and some cast has been shown and yeah AMC do well. Also you're right there's no similar show on the scene at the moment, both zombie and post apocalyptic.

Here we go http://www.mad.co.uk/Main/News/Arti...bal-broadcast-rights-to-The-Walking-Dead.html

FX in the UK to show the Walking Dead from October. One of the finest graphic novels/series I have read in a long while :)

That's good news - No huge wait for UK viewers, and sounds like they want to market it right:

"The Walking Dead will premiere ahead of the third season launch of vampire hit, True Blood and will be heavily supported off-air by a marketing and PR campaign."

What sort of zombies does this have in it? The slow moving, overwhelming relentless traditional zombies or the modern fast moving leap at you zombies?
