AMD + 3D

I play games in 3d ALL games
Love 3d gaming and movies. So much easier to track your cooldowns in mmos ect.
Performance hmm what i got i would say is minimum to play games in 3d and spu sometimes does not cut it even tho its at 5ghz...
I will be buying rift anyhow so :D

^
Nope, just AA.

Idk, who does the numbers for Nvidia?:(

It's a bit senseless locking out users imo, as I'm not going to be swapping out my native 3D monitor and 3D TV for the sake of a gfx card that won't play ball in 3D.

It's nVidia though isn't it? They love locking stuff out. I think part of the reason why they do it is because they know a fair amount of people are ignorant to certain things, and probably realise that a fair amount of people think you can't do 3D on AMD cards.

Yep, Nvidia to a tee.

How would I go about doing 3D on an AMD card?

Seriously.

I've got a 7950 and a Samsung S23A700D.

You need to use DL-DVI, for 120 FS 3D, either tick enable 3D in the likes of Sleeping Dogs, Tomb Raider etc for supported native ingame 3D.

For the rest, get the latest version of Tridef for your Sammy, it's free, the license is embedded through your monitor:

http://www.tridef.com/download/Samsung-SyncMaster-3D-Game-Launcher-TriDef-3D-latest.html

Once it installs, scan your games and it should add them, if it misses any, manually add them.

Great, thanks. I'll have to give that a go.
The TriDef site doesn't list the monitor as supported, but the monitor does list TriDef...

Am I right in thinking it doesn't work so well (3D in general) in FPS games because of the crosshairs?

I played MW3 in 3D and it was a whole new ballgame completely, little particles of dust floating in the air etc yes the crosshair is different but it adds to the 3D experience.

The S23A700D is definitely supported, that's what monitor I use.

It can take a bit of getting used to, but there is a laser sight pointer you can use that sorts it out-mostly, it differs by game and can be tricky at times though but once you get the hang of it, it's fine.

If you have TR, get it played on 3D(in game will do), it's been the most visually stunning 3D title yet for me.

A tip for 3D newbies, don't have a lengthy playthrough in 3D, you will wan't to vomit if you do.

Better of building up your tolerance over a few nights or you will be reaching for either a sick bag or a hammer.

Once you get there though, it's superb gaming.

:)

I played BF3 in 3d no problems with aiming ect...
Finished
Bioshock no problem
metro 2033 no problem
Crysis 3 no problem
Tomb raider did not like the game :P
DMC no problem

TBH i dont have many problems with TriDef software besides their crap 2 core optimization.
Sometimes you need to wait for new game profile for week or two but besides that its working fine. Many setings that you can tweek yourself ect

Finally got around to trying this.
Not sure I like it in a lot of game.
Tried:
Guild Wars 2 (NPC names and Icons are a maess)
Black Ops 2 (looks good, but aiming is impossible unless I close 1 eye, thus going back to 2D)
The Walking Dead (Was actually impressed with this, didn't expect it to 'work' in 3D but it did)
Metro 233 (well, the benchmark, was ok, but nothing startling)

Overall, glad I didn't pay money for it, worth trying though.

Well, just wanted to say after reading this last night I awoke this morning and ordered the Samsung S23A700D 23" 120Hz off OCUK! Last one in stock as well so I am buzzing about that. I have the Dell u2713h as my main monitor so I plan on switching between the 2 should I fancy a spot o' 3d gaming. I'm running 2 7970s and as Haswell is more like Has-been and 780 sli is too much money for the small performance gains I'm gonna try 3d gaming instead. Now comes the hard part of trying to explain to the wife why I really needed that 2nd monitor
