I am a massive fan of 3D and certain games just look stunning. Tomb Raider, Trine 1+2, Dirt 3, Alan Wake, Dishonoured, Hitman Absolution, Portal 2, to name but a few look and play great.
does it hit performance much?
Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. The full rules can be found under the 'Terms and Rules' link in the bottom right corner of your screen. Just don't mention competitors in any way, shape or form and you'll be OK.

Yes it does. Like Spoffle said, it cuts frames in half however, you will not be using any AA as this messes up the 3D effect apparently, so you gain a bit back there.
I didn't know that about AA when enabling 3D.![]()
It's nVidia though isn't it? They love locking stuff out. I think part of the reason why they do it is because they know a fair amount of people are ignorant to certain things, and probably realise that a fair amount of people think you can't do 3D on AMD cards.
How would I go about doing 3D on an AMD card?
Seriously.
I've got a 7950 and a Samsung S23A700D.
If it's any consolation 3d is rubbish on virtually every game i've tried it on.
You need to use DL-DVI, for 120 FS 3D, either tick enable 3D in the likes of Sleeping Dogs, Tomb Raider etc for supported native ingame 3D.
For the rest, get the latest version of Tridef for your Sammy, it's free, the license is embedded through your monitor:
http://www.tridef.com/download/Samsung-SyncMaster-3D-Game-Launcher-TriDef-3D-latest.html
Once it installs, scan your games and it should add them, if it misses any, manually add them.
Great, thanks. I'll have to give that a go.
The TriDef site doesn't list the monitor as supported, but the monitor does list TriDef...
Am I right in thinking it doesn't work so well (3D in general) in FPS games because of the crosshairs?
