AMD 7600x temps.

Disagree with hitting 95°c, sorry. 70-80°c before a negative curve I can get onboard with. And you mention browsing forum and downloading games, shouldn't be near 80°c. That's crazy. It's your first build, so are you sure the paste is good and cooler is mounted correctly?
 
Can you share a Pic of hwmonitor showing gpu and cpu min and max temps at idle and run cinebench so we can see?

A picture can tell a thousand words as they say.

Different chip but I recently bought a 5700x3d and it peaks mid 70s under a thermalright PA 120.

I suspect a cooler mounting issue as yours sounds too warm but more info is required.

The cooler was mounted carefully, it's Noctua paste. It's not a cooler I was happy with though, as its a late revision with plastic mounting brackets. I may well re-fit this, maybe even use one of those Thermalright AM5 Contact plates. It's not my 1st build, it's my 1st new AM5 system build, though technically it's on it's second cooler as previously it ran Linux for a month with a GTX 1050 and Be Quiet Pure Rock 3. Though I never looked at temps then.

You can disagree all you want about hitting 95c, the crazy thing is that this is a PC forum, and that 95c is actually AMD's figure and a quick Google browse shows it's a common temp. Crazy that so many here are disagreeing with AMD and the internet and the reviews of the CPU. Apparently many under-volt and there are videos regarding this two years back due to it on average hitting mid 90's on Cinebench and coasting around mid 40's even with an AIO.

So I am running it stock and seeing the same temps new owners with their 1st purchase of the 7600x saw.

Currently playing games while using the internet and it's sitting at 50c.

TPU's review says that it hit 88c running blender and 70c gaming, with a Noctua NH-U14S, so yeah, it is not unusual to see those kind of temps on air at stock under full load.

Believe it or not I am trying to help you. If you want to sit at Tjmax. Go for it. AMD set that as their max. But you'll be getting reduced voltages and clocks as it throttles, and probably premature silicon aging. You would hope though, given I've owned a 2600x, 5800x, 7600 and now 9700x, that I'd be able to assist get that temperature down to the 70-80° zone. As I say, if you feel happy with how it is though, then that is fine. Ta.

Sorry, maybe I am reading you wrong, I thought you were saying it's not normal for the 7600x to be hitting 80c while it downloads a 40gb game and browses the internet and Youtube while on a forum. And I thought you inferred it's not normal and no one should be seeing 95c when using Cinebench with a stock configuration 7600x

I am all for help, but so far a number on this thread seem to be claiming that what AMD, Google and current users of the 7600x have with temps doesn't happen or is a fault. Despite it showing as common and how the CPU operates on Google. So it seems some infer I built my PC wrong, or have a fault, therefor should be worried about the PC therefor are contradicting what is being stated or experienced by others on Google.


When I created this thread I had not actually seen the original reviews or Cinebench results of the 7600x, I certainly had a moment when I seen 80c considering I never seen such temps with my old systems. Reading many of the comments actually had me worrying I had a fault, until I looked on Google, and realized many on here commenting simply are contradicting the statements on Google, therefor may be as clueless as I am.

So you can disagree with it hitting 95c. But it's a fact that it's common for the 7600x, I only know this now because of the Internet showing it's an average experience and common regardless of cooler for 7600x users running stock and running Cinebench. If you disagree with it being acceptable, well yeah, I do plan on learning a little more about undervolting and tweaking the BIOS to reduce this as I would like to run it cooler.
I had already looked at it a little for the 9800X3D as it seemed common for that CPU to be undervolted, I have now bookmarked a couple of articles regarding reduced bios settings for the 7600x.


I do not want to sit at TJ max all the time, it is simply what the CPU does at stock settings apparently under short intense loads or benching, not my words, but what shows on internet searches. It isnt hitting anything like those temps all the time.

So clearly I am not happy with the temps, but also not happy with people stating its a fault and never happens or should not be happening, when a quick search shows it's actually common and I should not be getting stressed about it.
I now know I can play around with some settings in Bios, and this may well be worth trying, I can also re-seat the cooler or fit a Thermalright contact plate if it helps, as it costs nothing. But will have to leave this until next week.

So far all the PC has done is play basic games at 4k and 1080p just to gauge the budget GPU performance, the most intense thing the CPU has done is Cinebench. I cannot say I have experienced any slow downs, throttling, or issues despite gaming for hours on end or running Cinebench, but again, I doubt I would know what to look for in Cinebench as an example of throttling.
I cannot say I am disappointed with the cooling or noise, considering its £22 worth of fans with a £30 CPU cooler in an NZXT H500 renouned for bad cooling. It initially ran with all CPU and case fans on silent config in bois, I only changed to standard fan config in bios when I seen 80c and still it hardly makes any noise. I have not even played with fan profiles or limits as is suggested for AMD too. So that is something else I will look into at some point.


In contrast I can stick my old 4770k with an RX-590 XFX Fatboy in a Fractal Pop Mini Silent and occasionally see it shut down due to temps playing games at 1080p or 1440p med to low settings while sounding like a demented hairdrier about to take off as it's Viper fans attempt to cool things.


SO from what I have seen looking at Google, it is common for an AMD CPU to hit 95c during Cinebench, and anyone claiming its a fault doesnt know what they are talking about. But i is also common and possibly good practise to undervolt these CPU's as it lowers temps and can increase performance, which sounds great.
As Google and a number of videos state.
To increase performance and lower temperatures on a Ryzen 7600X, undervolt the CPU using the Curve Optimizer in your BIOS to a negative offset. Additionally, ensure good cooling by setting a custom fan curve for your CPU cooler, consider reducing the thermal throttle limit in the BIOS, or manually lowering the power limits (PPT) for a more powerful yet cooler system.

And this does sound better than stock and seeing 95c even if it is what AMD designed. As I like the idea of quiet, cool and not wasting too much voltage and my PC having a long happy life on an air cooler.

And cpus do ramp up when downloading games, steam ad mine at 55/60c but I think 80 is a bit very high.

But as your not using curve optimiser yet you will see high temps

It is normal for a 7600X to hit TJmax or close to it in stress tests.

Here's HUB's review running a loop of Cinebench on a 360mm AIO, where it hits 93c.


As I said, as long as you aren't throttling then there is no problem to solve except for setting up your fans to a level you're comfortable with.

If you don't like seeing the high number (you shouldn't care, seriously) then your options are to either set temp limit in your BIOS, enable eco mode, or customize power manually by tweaking PPT/EDC/TDC settings.
