A few thoughts:
- Prior to the 9070, I got the impression from the DCS forums that the AMD GPUs weren't really that great at VR
- I did see a VR test of the 9070 in DCS over the weekend. The frame rate looked good, which is positive
- Nvidia's DLSS upsampling was a real mess in VR until DLSS4 arrived. That's now been resolve and it genuinely works well
- DLAA is awesome in say DCS in VR, and completely superseded MSAA for myself
- AMD have introduced their hardware based version of DLSS in the 9070, but it's early days and it's going to take a while for it's introduction into a number of PCVR titles
- There was comment earlier in this thread about the 50 series not being great in VR. Sorry, that's dead wrong. I received a 5080 last week, replacing a 3080Ti. The improvement in DCS is phenomenal. The frame rates I've seen suggest that it's roughly halfway between a 4080 and a 4090 in performance. No, that's not a dramatic improvement on the 4080, but it's the same basic cost as a 4080, but with better performance. Hardly fair to call it pants.
Let me put it another way. I put my money where my mouth is and bought a 5080 over a 9070 last week, and it's probably not fair to poke an "nvidia fanboy" comment at me, as I use a 7800x3d CPU.
