AMD A10 7870K With what graphics

I have the AMD A10 7870K and am just wondering what would the be the best graphics card for it. I have a max of about £150 to spend. Is it best to crossfire it with another card or can i buy a graphics card that's overall better to use any help please?

System i have is:
Motherboard : Gigabyte F2A68HM-HD2
CPU : AMD FM2 A10 7870K APU
8GB DDR3
250gb Samsung EVO SSD with a 1TB WD Hard Drive
OS-Windows 10 Pro
 
Hi and welcome :).

Currently the fastest card you can get for that price is a 380. But 30 quid more gets you a 380x which is a lot faster. If it was me I would save the 30 extra and get a 380x.

Saying that, lot of people would probably suggest going second hand as you could get a lot more bang for your buck. You may be able to pick up a 290x or gtx970 for that money.
 
Best value/perf: R9 380 4GB for anything of 1920 or above.

Anything upto 1920, I would say the 2GB 960 is a second best, but lower power consumption option.

The out and out best value for money is the R9 390 though, although I think that is above your finances.

I would recommend a R9 380. No point going higher as you will be held back by the CPU if you look for too much GPU horsepower.
 
hey i would go with the R9 380 mate i just built a system for a mate with similar setup and the card is amazing if you dont mind second hand look at a r9 290 otherwise 380 all the way
 
pretty much any card will better your performance and from what i just read, only the r7 240 and 250 can be xfire with your board though was mention of the 250x being compatible.

If one was only playing single-player first person or third person shooter, driving and sims yes; but if playing online multiplayers FPS, mmos, RTS...then nope. Even overclocked i5 could be bottleneck depending on the situation, and the AMD A10 7870K is less than half the grunt of that.
 
So if I got the 380 or 390 or better could I play GTA or COD don't mind if I'm.not playing at full 1080P on max settings I'll settle with 720P high settings, if I got a better graphics card would my a10 7870k slow it down?

That situation does not mean that GPU is being wasted on that APU, At the end of the day there's games where any CPU can be the weak link, so as far as the 7850 and 380x being paired up goes I'd of thought it'd allow you to get good performance and if I was after a card in that price range I'd pay the extra for a 4gb 380x rather than a 380.

I think a 380x with your cpu would make an excellent pairing. Especially if you overclocked and got another 500mhz from it then I cant see you running into much bottleneck at all.
 
If I did overclock my cpu wouldn't I need a better fan than the one that came with it? Can I turn the cpus gpu off so that it just uses cpu instead?
 
I put a cheap PC together for my nephew, I used an AMD 860K CPU, 16GB RAM and my old R9 290 Tri-X OC card. He plays COD BO3, Fallout 4 and rocket league the most and says it all runs great at 1080p.
He was using my second pc which = Intel 4790, 32gb RAM R9 290X 8GB and he says he has not noticed much difference.
