AMD Announce Furyx2 (Gemini) performance

7990 was an amazing card.

Agree, I still remember around 2 weeks after I bought it then the bitcoin market boom, 7990 price almost gone double, could have made a very hundred pounds profit at that time.

7990 has similar performance as 980, served me very well and got a strong price at the second hand market as well.
I go for Fury only because of the Freesync function, otherwise I wont change it.

its strange how peoples experience of multi gpus differ, i have crossfired 3870,4870,5770,6970,7970 and 290's and on nvidia 970 and 980 and overall not had much to complain about, i would say the 7970 crossfire was my favorite of the bunch

Agree, I've had a pretty good experience with SLI these days.

It's down to what games people use, There's thousands of games to choose from. If you have someone who spends most his time playing one or two certain games/franchises such as Battlefield there experience will be different to that of someone who's into playing games on release such as Batman, Dying Light and Far cry.

Well, hopefully the release of this card will make them produce a few more Crossfire profiles for my 295X2. I've not been happy with the number of games that don't support it in the 15 months I've had the card.

You got life in that thing yet. Not only if VR and crossfire are a good match but when DX12 titles start to arrive the job of pooling the tech together will become easier (if the dev's allow for it).

Got rid of mine 10 months back, had had enough of the lack of support tbh. Switched to 980 SLi and found it to be better

Yes its just another 295X2 isn't it, looks great on paper but with little or no profiles to go with it its about as much use as a chocolate teapot.

Only 2x Nano's? Isn't this likely to be completely obsolete before it even comes out what with Pascal coming in Q2 this year.

Also, 4gb on a card with this power and coming out in the second half of 2016 seems pretty meager!

Single Pascal will not beat this

Neither will high end Polaris and that thing is gonna be immense.

No chance of any volume Pascal parts in Q2. Zero. Practically no chance for Q3.

It's for VR. It'll be using LiquidVR in practically every title as a secondary API (which allows memory pooling - though I'm not sure it's even necessary as it's one GPU per eye), and almost all VR titles going forward will use DX12 or Vulkan as primary API (again they can memory pool).

Second half? I highly doubt it. Summer could mean anything, but in the UK it officially starts on the 27th of March.

I expect The X2 to be available a day later on the 28th of March (Occulus Rift availability). So end of Q1, not Q3 as you probably assumed.

What happened to Spring?

VR userbase isn't established enough for this card to make sense as a business move, nor do we know how good the crossfire support will be for the CV1 software this year

I guess it could make sense in a small form factor portable VR system though,
although I think that might be more suited to the HTC Vive, which I am doubtful will be released any time soon. Reason being that oculus is meant to be used at a desk whereas HTC might require a large space where you typically wouldn't keep a pc.

eh  where did you get that info from? Summer starts in June :D so that debunks the rest of your comment.

Did Nvidia buy off Spring and lock it into Gameworks so AMD cannot use it?

Is denying that a season exists entirely, so as to argue/disagree with someone, a new low in this subforum's penchant for fanboyism?

"Roy also touched on driver improvements for the AMD lineup of graphics cards and confirms than any disadvantage they once had with their close rival Nvidia regarding drivers has disappeared."

Hmmmmmmmm I wonder if he realized ROTTR driver was quite late? lol

He's a marketing/PR guy, they're naturally full of **** ;) :D

If AMD carry on making small improvements then I can see them start to catch up next year. They just don't seem to have the resources required for a full-on assault!
