** AMD BACK IN THE GAME: PRICE DROP EXCLUSIVE TO OcUK!! **

What's the nVidia equivalent to the Sapphire Fury Nitro? My AMD knowledge is non existent...

The Fury is an odd one, it out performs GTX 980 at pretty much everything. In Vulkan and DX12 titles it can even rival 980Ti / 1070, but it is title dependent.

I would say on a whole 980Ti / 1070 is the quicker card, but they also cost more, so the Fury is a nice option at £300 ! :)

Yeah it's a really good price. How long are they staying at this price? Is it a temp offer?

I wish they were this price a month or so ago when I bought my Strix 960 4gb...

The biggest issue is the 4GB VRAM makes it a little worrying but if I buy it now and sell when Vega arrives, just seen the RX 480 Nitro will have a 4GB version at £210 might be worth waiting for that and overclock it to Fury level.

Is it likely that a RX 480, even a properly cooled one, can be overlocked to a Fury's performance?
Its has so many fewer shaders, texture units and rops

Really, no. The best overclocking 480s are probably going to be 390X performance. The Fury Nitro is not far off the Fury X.

Remember that the HBM in the Fury has plenty of bandwidth, so can swap textures in and out very quickly. Probably not as quickly as if you just had 8GB, but it's no slouch either.

Also Gibbo, how long does the deal last, is it just until stock is empty or is there a fixed date?

I still have a watercooled 290 I'm going to wait till the end of the year in hope to see what a potential 1080ti or 490, fury2 may be like!

But I feel my finger might slip on getting xfire on 480 or fury

I will be ordering the Acer 34" Predator XR341CKB soon and need a GPU to go with it. Would a Sapphire Nitro Fury at £300 be better than a R9 Nano at £330?

It depends on cooling. While the Nano is more capable, it suffers from thermal throttling in most cases.

The Nitro Fury is a safer bet (and there is a slim chance that you may be able to unlock some extra shaders to bring it closer in performance to a Nano or FuryX).

How risky/difficult is the unlocking? Is it a no brainer to try?

Mines fully locked so no stress for me I guess...
