** AMD BACK IN THE GAME: PRICE DROP EXCLUSIVE TO OcUK!! **

Just wondering, how many custom models of the 480 will there be? Can we expect it to be as many as the 1080's where there are 21?

You should check our webshop, we now list over 50 seperate 1080 SKU's, the forum thread was 21 at time of posting, now it is more than double and still growing.

I've seen a chart of gpu ram usage that shows the hbm cards using less ram than their gddr5 counterparts at the same graphics settings. So 4GB might last longer than we expect. I mean that the cards might run out of grunt to deliver a good framerate before it runs out of ram.

Looking at the steam hardware survey it seems that 8 GB is far from the norm so games won't target this for a while

Tri-X uses the stock PCB, Nitro is an entirely custom PCB. Might explain the better OC potential.

The Tri-x is the reference card, It's also the one that runs cooler due to the length of the pcb's, The Asus has a full length pcb while the Tri-x has the short Fury x length pcb offering less resistance through the heatsink. The Nitro is 3/4 length.

It made a noticeable difference between the temps, fan speeds and noise of the reference tri-x and the Asus Strix, It probably won't make much of a difference between the Nitro and Tri-x though. I was expecting the Nitro to clock better thanks to it's custom PCB design.

The Nitro's definitely the Fury to get.

I managed to offload my R9 290 to a friend for a decent Price, so I went ahead
and pulled the trigger on a R9 Fury nitro.
I hope I won't regret it since it is the most expensive gpu I ever bought :-)

Done the same here, should tie me over until Vega comes out and drops in price (if its any good). Just seen I have the email telling me its been shipped :)

Yeah, thats why the 390s, the next tier down, are their recommended cards now, as they can run at higher settings than the Furys, which isn't right is it :p

Having previously owned a 390 and a Fury Nano, running both at 3440x1440, I can say that is not true.

The nano outperformed the 390 in everything I threw at it.
