AMD beliefs: DirectX 11 Radeons pleasantly fast

This is one card I'm waiting for...I have loads of dosh for an extreme build now ! But putting it off for the 58xx series. Hope they are out soon, what's the latest rumour ?

this month, but don't take it likely lol I m not bothering till next year, i want to try Nvida next, if the boot fits and they are not too expesnive .......again

Yeah DX11 is going to be available on vista as well. It was when i heard that i bought vista ultimate as so far i havn't had any problems with vista hp or ultimate been a great os for me despite many of the net mongers.

and i'd bet it's yet another tweek of the 8800 series cards rebranded for DX11! :D

Nah, they have got away with that for too long. Now Nvidia have to advance and no kicking and screaming will change it this time. Microsoft won't bend over twice. The first time was enough to let Microsoft learn the tough love routine. Just a shame that AMD/ATI paid for it last time for actually addressing what was asked and didn't do the "I just can't do it captain, we don't have the technological power" Star Trek Scotty thing.

This is why it's going to be so much easier for AMD but one thing enters my mind when addressing this. What if after Nvidia found out they could get away with the not full DX10 spec on the G80s till now that they also were simultaneously designing such a card and just used all this time whilst easily producing old spec cards to perfect the new spec? (Yep, confusing). If that were to be true then Nvidia might not be as behind as I thought. It's total speculation on my part of course but as it's easily plausible it's worth a thought.

I'll tell you what though. If Nvidia are not as far behind as I thought then it's been well played on business sense. Although it's bad for the consumer what they done with the DX10 thing on Vista, I have to applaud it on a business level for the money made for this move.

Hopefully the new cards are released sooner the better, should be a good upgrade from an 8800GT

Well my 4870 was a pretty good upgrade over my 8800GTX. I play between 1600x1200-2048x1536 and I noticed the speed difference. I don't feel it was worth £180 for an upgrade over my 8800GTX but after selling my 8800GTX it was certainly worth it.

If this has been a good upgrade for me then you'll be in for a nice surprise with the next cards I'd imagine :).

Dirt 2 console release is due at the end of september, in the dx11 inteview the said the PC version would be pushed back to update to DX11. I assuem they want it out for christmas

Yeah I think vista and DX10 cards can take advantage of DX11 I'm not sure to what extent, they made a big thing about it when the talk of DX11 started going around, so if you have vista and a DX10 card I don't think you need to worry much about it until its more mainstream

I will be getting windows 7 don't know about a DX11 card

A console port, modded to include DX11 effects that's based on a game that, while good, was riddled with bugs on release?!!

That's not going to tempt me into buying new hardware. No, we need to see a dedicated PC game that's made with DX11 in mind from the ground up. If there's nothing around on release then it'll only sell as an upgrade in performance with existing games. Assuming that it will be.

Would be nice if they actually showed something making proper useage of the DX11 features :( even DX7 could do realtime, high performance adaptive tesselation of goemetry extruded from the same plane of the type they are demonstrating - ok some parts have to be done on the CPU but thats another story.

I was wondering about that guy on the right with DX11 on it, i have seen that picture a long while ago before DX11 and i thought it was a picture that was done on a renderfarm or similar, in fact i didnt think it had anything to do with games although i could be wrong.

I'm just hoping that they use graphics and optimize sensibly otherwise we are going to end up with more games like Crysis and still run poorly even on the best cards, thats the one thing i hate about some new games. Why bother developing them if you cant even play it properly for 1-2 years after release.

I'm hoping the new AVP game and Doom 4 doesn't suffer from that.

i think Crysis was an exception, a one off disaster... i hope it's not repeated again....as for DX11, if next years more powerful cards are all DX11; then you might have no choice..unless you opt for a cheaper slower GT 295 ( by then).

it seems to me that pc technology is moving too far ahead of gaming and will WIN 7 and DX 11 cards be bug infested when they first come out, it might be better to buy it 6 months after release...after all the initial glitches are sorted out.

as for games running poorly, some of the problems might not be the graphics cards... i.e for some people like me, Fallout 3 wont play at all...it crashes all the time and the developers cant fix it, or cant be bothered....

i call it selling a faulty product...but with the gaming industry there are no consumer rights...they can sell you any crap they like and you cant do anything about it....it's full of cowboys

The problem with that is that Fallout 3 probably works on most peoples computers, meaning in this case, its probably you ( or your computer) at fault, not the game developers.

well it's better since i fitted a new OCZ psu, that's for sure

It's a sales tactic I reckon. So you'll upgrade your hardware in the hope of running that game at high settings. It works too. Look at how many peeps come on here asking 'what hardware do I need to run Crysis at max settings?' then go out and buy it.

It's clearly fake, the DX10 picture even looks more realistic than the DX11 one...

I can see the marketing now. DX11 makes black people turn white!

I am really hoping this isn't an offical comparsion. Differently lit, different textures and god knows what else.

They may as well take a picture of an orange in DX10 and then use a space shuttle launching for DX11 and use that for comparison.

Haha, not for that reason though. The official DX9 vs DX10 comparison was this...
