AMD Bulldozer Finally!

I don't think I'll ever believe benches until stuff is actually released :p
and even then, the reviewer I listen to the most is TTL from oc3d, as he speaks the truth :p (not to say anyone else who's a reviewer here etc lies about stuff :p)

Indeed, Bulldozer has a new instruction that better handles x264, compared to anything previous

The question is though, does the software support it, if the software doesn't support XOP, then its worthless, if it supports it, it can boost parts of the encoding by up to 400%, bottlenecks with feeding it and doing other things will I assume mean you'd never see that level of performance increase in terms of fps/time taken to encode.

Never even heard of techarp, from their site I have no clue if it supports XOP or even more specifically, if the benchmark does as it appears they mention using an older version for the benchmark so the results maintain a fair comparison over time, making it even less likely to support a new instruction.

Dosnt look as bad as i thought in those benchmarks, might just have to go bulldozer then :D

P.S. Will this thread get to 7000 posts before Midnight?? The excitement !! How long would it take to read from start to finish now?

If you were able to filter out all the hyperbole, conspiracy theories and random unrelated posts - probably about 5 minutes? ;)

May get me the cheapest one of these to replace my daughter's 2 core E5200 and clock the nads off it ... was gonna get another X6 but may as well have new tech to play with :)

I sure hope the Bulldozer lives up to expectations. My friend is going to get one if they are worth the upgrade and if he does that means I get to buy a AMD Phenom II X4 processor quite cheap. Which would be a good start to building my PC. :D

Are people looking at different graphs to me?

BD was being hailed as the multi-threaded king of the hill so I was expecting it to absolutely MULLER a 2500/2600k and it well, pokes it nose infront a tiny bit shyly?

We will see soon enough but maybe my expectations are far different to others. Budget is all well and good but at least have a £££££++ flagship capable of holding a little bit of a flame to Intel.

After some of the very negative talk about it's potential performance these latest reviews are looking a bit more positive, although i was honestly hoping for a bit more competition with the current SB chips.

Hopefully some official reviews will be out quickly, i've got an upgrade to plan and i'm tired of waiting! :D
