AMD Catalyst 11.8 WHQL

Haven't had any issues with 11.8 so far. Haven't had ANY issues with AMD/ATi drives since the HD2XXX series tbh (when all drivers were less than perfect in case you can't remember). What am I doing wrong? :p

So lonely...
 
Linux driver is still slow and buggy as all hell. Windows driver is pretty good though.

I wondered a while back if the version number was the only thing changing with the Linux Catalyst package each time they 'updated' it. Guess I have my answer now. I was right.

Hmmm......installed 11.7 last week....seem to be getting lag in BFBC2. Nearly always get kicked on first server too. Subsequent joining servers is fine though. 11.6 seemed fine. Had a major crash last night, the sort where you get constant buzzing and the screen freezes, then BSOD which doesn't actually free itself up, which prompted a forced shutdown of the pc.
When i rebooted it couldn't even find my hdd, which is another vertex 3 issue, but hey-ho.

Glad this thread started up, i was wondering what others thought of 11.6 v 11.7.
Might try 11.8 tonight.
How do you guys gauge the difference? Do you bench or maybe run fraps on games, or just see if it 'feels' better?

Your lag & getting kicked from servers has nothing to do with the drivers.

Low frame-rate yes but lag & kick no.

There are some games that will kick if below or above certain frame rates but BFBC2 is not one of them.

Well, installed 11.8's and had over 2 hours of stutter free BFBC2, no glistches at all.......unless you all getting destroyed ofver and over again a glitch!
 
Anyone tested Crysis 2 with ATI CrossFire 5xxx series as well as Brink and Need for Speed 2 Shift Unleashed?
 
I've been getting reports of CTDs in BFBC2 from all my mates, using all kinds of cards from the green and red team - for the past couple of weeks.

I don't think we can measure the impact these drivers have, BFBC2 is screwed.
 
These drivers absolutely fix any fps drops I was getting on certain areas in Black Ops (Havana main street, Cracked middle area), constant fps anywhere now. I just assumed the game was at fault (maybe it is and they just figured a fix out) as some Nvidia users would also report this.
