Like we said, AMD hosted a special event for editors called RTG Technology Summit. So far no news on Radeon Fury X2, but AMD has confirmed some information regarding the future of FreeSync, HDMI 2.0 and DisplayPort 1.3 in 2016 Radeon GPUs.

Maybe just maybe this is the reason amd have been holding off hdmi 2.0? Working to push Freesync hdmi why spend resources on hdmi 2.0 on a small market..
I bet they is more 4k monitors on the pc side than 4k TVs.
 
a lot of it was good stuff but highly dependent of other company and group to support going forward. Also this in the Anandtech write up this is interesting:

FS-HDMI is not an open standard, at least not at this time

So much for AMD being free and open with there standards ? Then again it could be what they need if they have the same level of control that nvidia do on Gsync with the entire chain (panels, monitors, scalers, drivers) before they rubber stamp a screen with FS-HDMI they will come out with a better product in the end.

I see no issue with AMD controlling it like Nvidia does with Gsync. It should only benefit the end experience for us the users.

At least they listened to consumers (or business advice) and put HDMI 2.0 in.

yeah but no crossfire and sli profiles to get us to 120fps @4k lmao...and there's definitely no single GPU that can run anywhere near that and I very much doubt any GPU from next year will get to those heady heights.

hopefully by end of next year profiles will be a thing of the past anyway with DX12

the idea is to allow a smoother desktop user experience with 144hz is a big thing for many not just gaming with 144fps.
for myself a 144hz 3440x1440 HDR enabled screen looks really tempting.

Next years single entusiast cards will have todays crossfire power in one card.
Thats enough for really nice gameplay days.
 
4k, 120hz and variable framerate. We've come a long way in not that many years.

What is DRR, though?

So basically once the monitor drops out of its FreeSync range (say below 35 hz) now the software runs an adaptive algorithm on the GPU and is doing intelligent monitoring where extra frame syncs are inserted combined with where the the GPU outs a frame.

With HDR you should remember three things: bright things can be really bright, dark things can be really dark, and details can be seen in both.

well done, what about R9295x2 guys that are still waiting on a mini dp to hdmi 2.0 cable to get 4k on there current UHD tv`s, are we just peasants that need to get another 4k to use your tech
