Now that we're a week away from launch. Thought it would be a good idea to start a new thread. With hopefully sensible discussion.

AMD Fury and Fury X Prices announced

AMD have finally announced the R9 Fury and Fury X, AMD's new GPU Flagships which will utilise HBM and have a 1.5x gain in performance per watt over Hawaii.

The GPUs will be releasing in June 24th for $549 and $649 for the R9 Fury and the Fury X respectively, making them be exceptionally price competitive with Nvidia.

The R9 Fury X will be available on June 24th and the R9 Fury will be available less than a month later on July 14th.

Is there any downside to AIO cooling? Do the tubes corrode over 5 years or sommat, or are they just as reliable as air cooled solutions?

5 years, 5 years would be a good run for an air or AIO card tbh. If you get 5 years out of it you done well lol. If the warranty is 3 years etc than your set for that time anyway. AIO's don't leak or corrode in my experience. I've been using an Antec Kuhler for multiple GPU's for years. Never had any problems.

I get about 5 months out of card before switching to the next :p

Might be even less with Titan X.

Anybody know if you can reverse the fan on the radiator so it can be used as intake?

I don't have room for the rad at rear of my case, so would have to use as intake at front. Works fine with AIO on Titan X doesn't seem to raise case temps much, just not sure if this Fury Rad is designed to act as rear exhaust only.

Looks like it going by this, just 4 screws like the 295x2.

Looking at the pic it seems you could just unscrew it and flip it around?

Ah cool lol. If I can flip the fan then happy days.

Finally got my passive PSU Installed, new fans on H105 with manual speed adjustment. Now there is a gentle hum from PC. Much better.

Hope the 520W can cope with Fiji though, those shots earlier put it under 400Watt with gaming load so should be good to go hopefully.

Interesting, according to Kitguru it looks like AMD is refusing to give Fury samples to review sites which are not pro-AMD:

http://www.kitguru.net/site-news/an...-kitguru-fury-x-sample-over-negative-content/

Could be sour grapes, but a bit worrying if true :(

Haha absolutely brilliant.

Kitguru made that cringe worthy video crying about AMD not giving them access to Fiji weeks before E3. Basically slating AMD and accusing of them of trying to avoid reviews before launch, AMD obviously wanting to reveal their new Fiji GPU's at their E3 event.

Kitguru obviously knew they would get sample before Fiji would ship to customers for review but cried about it all the same. Didn't stop them making that awful video, totally acceptable from AMD not to want to give Kitguru samples.

I like the way KitGuru try to spin it as they want to report un biased, when in actual fact they made an awful cry baby video that now makes them look stupid, we knew Fiji would have reviews before launch. Just like anybody with a brain could work out. Kitguru just wanted to generate a story. AMD just wanted to unveil their GPU at E3 first.

AMD did the right thing here, why give samples to a cry baby shill site that makes anti AMD videos. This is very pro active from AMD. I'm liking their new style. No messing about.

The video is here:

In hindsight that video is even more cringe worthy now, his winy voice would be enough for me not to want to send him a sample.

'Speculation and guess work'.

Kitguru get someone in who is at least remotely interesting for videos. :D:p

"hristine Browne informed me directly on the phone that the reason for withdrawing the sample was based on ‘KitGuru’s negative stance towards AMD’. She said that with limited product they wanted to focus on giving the samples to publications that are ‘more positive’ about AMD as a brand, and company"

'Said Kitguru'.

That's all you need to know right there..

Surely if you have a kick ass product you want it in the hands of as many reviewers as possible, what would AMD have to hide.

Think of the **** storm if nVidia did this fro the same reasons.......

Well obviously as Kitguru are the ones to report this story about Kitguru they are in damage control mode. You're not going to get the full story from then are you lol.

You need the full context which Kitguru is not going to give you.

Kitguru made a video Pre E3 saying that AMD were basically bad guys because they did not show Fiji to 'Kitguru' before their E3 event, and crirtised AMD for showing some of their fans the products. They suggested that AMD were trying to avoid reviews and made lot's of anti AMD comments, along with the guy in the video being basically a winy cry baby and the opening line in the video is this 'Speculation and guess work'.

Awful, even worse in hindsight. Just listen to his wont tone in his voice, that alone is reason not to send them samples.

Kitguru seriously that's the face and voice of your site?

AMD are being the bigger man, Kitgur made that video, AMD decided not to send cards (LOL) and Kitguru broke the story. Meanwhile AMD don't say nothing.

Like a boss.

I like the way at the end Kitguru said AMD's partners will still send them cards. I'm sure we can expect some unbiased reviews from Kitguru there then

^^ Yeah be good to get user experience for that reason.

I'm going to compare Titan X VS Fury X in GTA V. Wolfenstein games and Shadow of Mordor as they are the known Vram hoggers. If their are any more post them here so I can try them.

Apparently Linus and Ryan Shrout aren't getting one either...

That's fantastic if true. As Those two were crying publicly over twitter over not receiving Fiji before AMD had even announced them at their E3 event.

The moral of the story, don't be a winy cry baby publicly if you want to then receive things from the people / company that your crying and whining about.

A good lesson for all.

Like a boss AMD

That was because they were questioning why AMD would not release cards early for review.

Yeah they wanted them before AMD and even announced them at their own E3 event.

I'm sure Sony and Microsoft do the same thing, sending of brand new products to people like Ryan Shrout equivalent before they even publicly announce them

I mean really how entitled and unprofessional can you get, these guys crying over twitter. Slating AMD and now still expecting samples.

AMD are doing the right thing, by denying crying whiny men children.

Yeah but this is not AMD's first card launch. For them to speak out regardless of the circumstances something has changed. So if AMD gave them cards really early in the past and always have done (as they have never spoken out till now) then why change it for this release ? Are they hiding something ?

AMD co hosted the worlds first ever E3 PC event, and chose that stage to launch their new GPU range.

There is no conspiracy here.

Why on earth would they send their new product samples to Ryan Shrout, or Kitguru samples before they did that?

It literally is the most stupid thing in the world for people to get upset about.

Do Sony send out the new products to the Ryan Shrout equivalent or KitGuru equivalent before even announcing their new products?

No ! No they bloody don't.

This is just more anti AMD rhetoric, unsurprisingly from the usual group here. It's getting sad now. It was already boring.

These entitled men children, crying, slating and now sat there expecting samples probably needed a wake up a call.

I think we can all take a lesson from this, don't be a crying whinge baby and expect people not to treat you like one.

Also makes no sense. How does a reviewer get an audience with no products to review?

Regardless of that logic - that's just not how it works in the real world. For anything.

This thread is going to need a few more clean ups before the 24th I reckon. Can't believe the review sample line of discussion is even a thing.

That's not even the issue. reviewers were all going to get samples.

These guys wanted samples before AMD had even announced them at E3.

They publicly cried about it and slated AMD, trying to portray it as some kind of tin foil hat conspiracy.

Now AMD have actually had the chance to announce their products they are sending out samples for reviewers. And if AMD have chosen not to send them to people who have publicly slated them and acted like entitled cry babies. Good for them. AMD is doing the right thing. Only other cry babies would think otherwise.

I'm not having a go, I'm simply trying to put forward an argument for their (reviewers) side of things too. As for them being babies and its not AMD's fault ? It never does seem to be their fault, It's not as though AMD didnt blame Nvidia for their **** up over Witcher 3 and gameworks. When it comes to AMD, nothing is ever their fault.

I see your point, I disagree about AMD always being right. In fact the general consensus seems to be anti AMD, remember they are the minority. Not Nvidia.

If AMD do wrong then they do wrong. Bulldozer was wrong, No drivers for months is wrong. AMD have been called out frequently, in fact even when Nvidia can't release a stable driver since 350.12. The general thinking is that AMD are still the ones that have driver issues.

This situation though AMD are doing the right thing. Why send samples of a product that they haven't even announced. Then add the fact that these guys in question Ryan Shrout, Kitguru, Linus not only expected samples before AMD announced them, but then went on to publicly slate AMD via social media. Why on earth should AMD give them anything?

This is a good lesson for all.

boom any chance you can remake this thread after benchmarks or something
i dont mind the topic right now
id like to add to it
i just cant be bothered if its all going to get deleted again! zzzz

I am hoping that Kaapstad will put up an owners thread at launch. With people 'hopefully' being more sensible at that point.

The mods are doing a good job cleaning up this thread as it goes. Let's just see what happens. I think things will calm down after launch.

I know you are saying, be a shame if thread gets deleted or too messed up.

Doing my best to be careful with what I post, I don't want to get suckered in to any baiting. I really like this forum, and most people on here are just interested in new tech and like minded. Hoping the many can / will overcome the few that try to spoil things.

Fingers crossed :D

Ha, that's the one I posted earlier.

The tone is his voice from the off and his opening line 'Speculation and guesswork' is all people need to know lol.

An awful video, totally unprofessional from Kitguru imho. The bit where he gets upset at AMD showing their unannounced products to customers. Rather than allowing them to review it before AMD have even been able to announce it at E3. Cringeworthy stuff. Elsewhere today anybody posting this video or defending AMD's stance is being deleted from discuss. So you have these guys whining and slating publicly via social media, followed by then doing the same thing over not received samples after AMD actually had a chance to announce their product. You can see that the websites are trying to steer the narrative. Totally ignorant that they were in the wrong.

AMD are being the bigger man.

First AMD Radeon R9 Fury X review samples are in the wild

The Fury X comes in a fancy box with AMD Radeon R9 Series logo. It’s kind of interesting that Fury series actually do not have their own logo, not on the box, not on the card, not in official documents, there is simply no official logo for Fury series. Yet there are four Radeon logos on the card: LED illuminated logo on the side, red Radeon logo on the front, laser-engraved logo on the I/O bracket and finally the Radeon sticker on the fan. Just none of them says Fury.
