Amd / retailers always seem to be way out with pricing. Now the 20xx cards are on the horizon i cannot see many buying these.

I needed a card 3 months ago and could only justify a 1060 ( due to mining ) but got one for £230, however if these vega 64's where this price back then i would have bought one, now though i am happy with the 1060 but may buy a 20xx card if there a lot better.

Amd just always seem one step behind.

It's a bit Irish blaming AMD because they didn't fit into your update Schedule? Back when you bought the 1060 mining was still strong on the AMD side of things. It's only since end of May, June that things have slowed down. AMD even made a statement to that effect that they were expecting no revenue from mining in Q3, hence the price reductions now.

Absolutely this. AMD cards were not competing gaming wise very well with nvidia before and on Monday they will be a generation behind. You would be really silly to buy anything from AMD until after Monday.

Besides aren't these prices pretty much the launch prices last year before mining made prices go to stupid levels.

I did not blame Amd i blamed the mining. Funny how i got an 1060 for £230 when 580's were around 400 quid.

I'm Pro amd and Nvidia , personally don't care which one but remember what happened with Pascal ...

FE came in first, stock out within 2 weeks or two batches and the .prices went up due to demand and stock taking a long time, and the. AIB cards were on pre-order for good prices, stock out 2 batches the. Rcoketed up, at one point Strix OC was £700/800 for a GTX 1080 . And sure Vega and Polaris did the same .

So launch prices of any card has been good, it when 1 .onth of stock runs out and pre-ordered start to build they rocket .

Still exciting times and good to see an AMD vendor dropping prices

If you were blaming mining, why didn't you go on a rant about that. But, no you were blaming AMD, that's why most of your post was about AMD been way with out with pricing, that AMD should have Vega at these prices months ago and, specifically talking about pricing, that AMD are always a step behind.

And it's not funny at all, and easily explained. The reason you got a 1060 for £230 was because it was the 3GB version, and became useless for Ethereum mining earlier this year. And the reason the 580 was £400 was because they were still in demand for mining at that time, even though that was on the decline.
 
Yeah the vega sell off doesn't seem to just be pre RTX related. Feels like clearing inventory with the talk of stock levels being fairly low.
