AMD Fury x2 Demoed at V-R conference

I quite agree but you would think that AMD advertising a partnership with Alienware and Dell would have them at least giving an AMD option. The article is from the 5th October as well. Anyone who looks at that article with a view to getting into VR will be given the choice of a GTX 970 and only a 970 (at this time). That is poor marketing... Actually, that is stupid marketing.

Agreed, but AMD are pretty much desperate so they are likely going to be announcing things at very early stages in order to get any kind of positive publicity.

Just because the options LOOK TO BE LIMITED right now does not mean there will not be great options for AMD GPU users within the next month or two.

Nice ! :)

This should have been released well before Xmas, too little too late, people will wait for the next gen stuff.

consoles are betterer, it has been stated! thus it shall be done! who needs vr and 4k when you can sit at your desk and play your console with a keyboard and mouse? who wants to play on thier pc while sat on thier sofa with a controller? only peasants do.

This is a #### take. literally.

you guys do know direct X12 can use different rendering so instead of 4gb on a dual card being 4gb mirrored it can operate @8gb unmirrored :)

*Only* if it's programmed for by the developer

even then, the actual net gain will be pretty marginal - if you think of what happens between one frame and the next, the actual texture and buffer usage between the two GPU's is still going to be virtually identical

even for VR, there is still a lot of overlap between each eye, so its really just the same as rendering two frames at the same time and needing all the same resources

Except in the real world in almost all applications both GPU'S will need a copy of the resources to render the same scene.

The only way for the GPU'S not to require mirroring is if they are rendering different scenes with different resources.
