Edge, a 290 is a more than decent graphics solution. The build you suggest should come in at way less than £1200.

I would say more like £900? though don't quote me on that.

I wouldn't bother with 16gb ram either, 8gb is more than enough for any game.

8Gb ram is good enough, so is an R9 290.

Assuming you have nothing, it will set you back around £850-£900 tops. Except you want to spend money on non necessary items.

There's nothing wrong with any half decent 750w psu from any OEM now. Antec have always made perfectly decent PSUs. 750w is probably overkill for the rig he's looking at but is nice to be on the safe side.

Almighty15 a 750 should be fine as i dont intend to crossfire but may go 850 just for the head room

Never used antec before but seasonic have always seemed to be good If not the best

Am I right in guessing that there's not a lot of difference between the Sabertooth rev2 and Crosshair IV Formula Z to make the later worth the extra money?

It is quite a lot tbh.

Saber has 8+2 power stages. CHV has 8+2+2
CHV has a different RAID controller.
CHV has Intel Pro series network controller (not a Realtek)
CHV has Supreme Audio.
CHV has ROG connect.
CHV has Three Way SLI support.

So the extra £40 IMO does net you a lot of stuff. The better sound card and network card are worth it alone.

ok i stand corrected theres a good bit of difference,

both boards overclock great

5 yrs warranty with the sabre and 3 yrs with the chf-z

Yeah they'll both overclock around about the same tbh. The CHV would only come into its own under LN2.

Obviously both work the same but you do get your luxuries with the CHV. Three way SLI for example will cost you £250+ on an Intel board.

I gotta say though the sound card is bloody marvellous, as is the software that comes with it.
