AMD FX Overclocking

On a bit of a side note to the current discussion but still related to this thread. My OC throttles like hell under load and the only way I was able to resolve it was to install AMD Overdrive - Enable Turbo Boost then disable it and click OK and then it stopped throttling.

Anyone else experienced this?

Try disabling apm in the bios.
 
I have a weird situation.

When I overclock past 4.7ghz, any website that includes adobe flash locks my computer!!!! to the point I need to turn it off completely and back on.

Games/Benchmarking tools etc all work fine but flash doesn't :O

Thanks! I will test this tonight when I get home from work, overclock to the point I had issues and let you know how it goes :)

I had actually gotten to 5ghz on the core with 5.2ghz turbo, everything stable, no issues at all but damn flash was messing up which I only realised about 4 days after getting to those clocks.
 
Didn't have a chance to test this last night as my internet was down in my whole postcode till about 4am this morning.

Fingers crossed it works :) this was literally the only issue I had, temps fine etc

Not looked at offset options yet as I have been so busy at work. Will try this out I think over the weekend if I get a chance.

What were you achieving before this and is there any setting changes that improved stability?
 
Might as well post my effort :)

I can't keep it 24/7 stable at this speed though, and it does turn my living room in to a furnace...

Fastest I've got it to live long enough to check CPUZ, still not ready to Cinebench it but I might as well have a crack at a few OCUK AMD records before I switch to Team Blue in the summer :p

Flank3r was does amp do anyways? I've now turned it off. Yep I hit 5Ghz just on multiplier without major issues at 1.464 volts avg. I'm seriously blown away with this 8320E chip....

Almost seems I got a golden. I might see how far I can go. I got the bus at 213 now. I'll post some more pictures. if I crank her higher the volts start to really jump. Heavy testing at this speed puts temps about 62c-63c with H80i cooler.....

Normal gaming doesn't usually go above 55c if that; *that was in BF4; and was 47c in guild wars*

For a 94 pound chip *what I paid for her brand new* she's a beast....If you guys want me to run anything let me know..

Trying to balance this OC with 290 OC......though afterburner seems not to be working. Will need to figure that one out.
 
APM master has the eefect, the TDP of chip is still around 125W (For 125W chip). So example you did OC to 5 GHz with APM master enabled and in Superpi 1M your score will be around 16s, so the same as with APM Master disabled.
But you can run Cinebench R11 or R15 and all threads will be jumping up and down because APM Master ant keep your TDP around 125W and score will be low. Example around 7.7 points. With disabled APM Master it will be correct and it is around 8.6 points at 5 GHz OC.
