Thanks to the 9.2cm silent fan, massive amount of cool air is drawn from the central fan to cool down the GPU and graphics card directly. 2 heatpipes optimize cooling performance by removing heat from the core area, providing ultimate solution for professional gamers and HTCP users.

IceQ X is one of the quietest coolers. The card is below 28dB when watching movies, surfing Facebook, working. The card is quiet in 2D mode and remains quiet whether you are gaming, online socializing, entertaining or working.

The new architecture of the card gets more usable processing power for your money, enabling better frame rates in the latest games at high resolutions. In addition, with AMD PowerPlay™ & AMD PowerTune technologies, you can optimize the balance between performance and power consumption of your system by adjusting the engine clock during runtime of the card. Manage the power and keep your wallet loaded!

Not sure that's possible. It was already pretty undesirable. AMD are choking the life out of the 660Ti's with these cuts :)

Its funny because its true :D Great news for us consumers, lets hope nvidia follow suit quickly.

Really dont know why AMD want to cut the 7850 price though, perhaps its just a knock-on of the 7870 price cut

Ok, just about to order the 7950 HIS. Only issue I have is that I contacted OcUK and asked them about warranty.

I read that they handled the warranty for the entire 2 years but the response from OcUK informed me that they now only handle it for the first year, leaving me with having to deal with HIS for the final year and I have read that they are awful for warranty issues! :(

incredibly tempting this...

only thing about the HIS ones is reports of those coolers being quite noisy under load, dont know how true this is.. sounds like the Sapphire HD 7950 OC 3072MB is quieter?

Didn't you say prices are determined by forum speculation as well? I get one out of ten right while guessing away as well... :p

I didn't literally mean forum speculation, although that plays a big part, along with biased reviews !

It's usual supply and demand. AMD are using a smaller die, so their manufacturing process is going smoothly, creating larger supplies than nvidia !

AMD know a lot of buyers will be swayed to purchase a 660 over a 7870 in the same price bracket [£200-£250], thus the demand will go down for the 7870 inparticularly. AMD have pre-emptively stopped this in a bold move by cutting price.

This will force nvidia to respond. If they don't it's going to be another bad year for nvidia, in terms of mid-range sales and getting the right product out at the right time.

almost nothing you say makes sense

Die size and manufacturing process have got nothing to do with each other... 680's were in short supply at 295mm vs. 7970 at 352mm

also... 660ti is the 3rd grade down of GK104, so if anything there should be loads of 660's available as they are chips that can't be made in to 670's or 680's
AMD has no 3rd binning on tahiti so chips that fail testing as 7950's are currently going in the bin

both AMD and Nvidia have plenty of stock of all their cards available, the rate at which they are selling (demand) governs pricing but at this point it's not a lack of supply keeping prices high (check around, all the major retailers have plenty of stock) (no lack of supply)

So the whole '28nm process is creating shorter supplies' is all baloney ?

You're probably right :(

Forum speculation, and biased reviews it is then, that's causing downfall in demand :P [Especially of the 660ti, as most people now know its pants].

There is still a sizeable part of the gaming community, I bet, who still don't do any research and buy a card that's supposedly faster than a 7950 :D

7900 series no issues with yeilds.
however 680/670 series have had and are having yield issues due to more complicated manufacturing even though it is going better for them, was a reason Nvidia complaiend about TMSC.

prices here for the 7900 series are pretty good IMO.

Nvidias CEO recently said that chip supply is low and that it is expected to increase supply by december, or words to that effect.

Im sure there are plenty of 660TI's going into dells and plenty of other OEM computers, its just us enthusiasts that know better :D

Im sure there are plenty of PC World monkies that are buying them.
