**AMD GPU PRICE DROP: AWESOME CARDS @ AWESOME PRICES!!**

The HIS 7950 looks nice for £240, but is it not worth paying £20 more for an MSI FT3? What do people think about the 7870 HAWK for £210? Is the 7950 TF3 worth £50 more over the 7870 HAWK?

Dammit, now you got me thinking should I change my order? Would the MSI TF3 be better than the HIS IceQ Turbo?

It does appear to have a much better warranty! Arghhhh

incredibly tempting this...

only thing about the HIS ones is reports of those coolers being quite noisy under load, dont know how true this is.. sounds like the Sapphire HD 7950 OC 3072MB is quieter?

@Op, play the DCU II first, then play another at the same time, you'll find out what's the quietest easy enough.

Would moving from a GTX 480 to a 7950 make much difference? I'm a bit fed up of the noise/ heat (not interested in aftermarket cooling) so I've been considering selling the 480 for a while now...

Yes, though overclocking will more than likely be required to make a worthwhile performance jump.

Thanks a lot, I too am going from a 5850 so intrigued to see what you think. :D

- of course thats assuming you dont change your order in the next few hours!!!

Well I decided that warranty is very important to me, so I chumped the extra £20 and bought the 7950 Windforce from Gigabyte. Plus, after measuring my case it appears as though the HIS 7950 is a bit of a beast and would take up almost 3 slots!

The 7950 Windforce looks to be just a little bit longer than my 5850, so that coupled with the 3 year UK based warranty justified the extra £20, just wish I had of bought a few weeks back when they were selling for only £249!

Watch it go on special sale tomorrow haha.

Really looking forward to seeing how it fares to my 5850 that I just sold on ebay for £80. I still can't believe what an amazing card the 5850 was, I had it since December 2009 and it has played everything at great frame rates and if I wasn't so obsessed with Planetside 2 I would probably have kept it for a bit longer! Was a bit sad actually when posting it to the new owner lol.

Maybe you can keep in contact with the new owner, then the loss won't feel so bad :) The Windforce seems great- apart from that blue pcb. I really wish they would use a black one in the future.

Good job getting £80 for that 5850. I paid £90 for my 5870.

Should be able sell it for around the same and then it's 7950 time!

Yeh mate they seem to hold value really well, such great cards up there with the 8800GT in my opinion. Actually got £88 for the card, but after paypal fees etc worked out at around 80 :)

Funnily enough the blue PCB was one of the reasons I bought the card as I already have a blue gigabyte motherboard

I'm upgrading from a 5850 myself, just ordered the 7850.

Should give a decent boost in performance and for the price is quite a bargain, would have preferred it with Sleeping Dogs now but bored of waiting to order a new card :)

The 5850 has been a great little card, hopefully I'll be able to get a few quid for it on the MM making my upgrade even cheaper.

Been thinking of pulling the trigger on a 670 soon but Im really tempted by the 7950 now. There's a £100 difference between the GB Windforces . . . is there really much difference between them at 1080p?

I was in the same boat mate, but when you look at the benchmarks the only game that the 670 kind of pulls away in is BF3, but once the 7950 is OC'd it closes the gap plus the extra VRAM doesn't hurt :)

Plus I thought with that extra 100 quid, I could get an SSD or even a lovely new case.

There is a user on these forums called MilanoChris and he has had both a 7950 and 670, he said that in real world gaming performance there wasn't much difference at all.
