AMD Kaveri APU Arriving For Desktop PCs in Q4 2013 – Kaveri Graphics Demonstrated With New Virtual R

That's a lot of if and buts and a fair bit imagination :D

One can but hope. And dream ;)

Really we can't be sure as to how well the GPU cores will fare. What we do know is that the GCN cores in Kaveri are far less memory bandwidth sensitive than the old VLIW4 cores.
Do we know that?

That Tom's Hardware link I referenced above seems to show the 7730 (GCN) acting very much like the 6670 (admittedly VLIW5, rather than the VLIW4 you refer to) in terms of GDDR3 vs DDR3

Needs more than 15-20 to match Sandy (Except in those exceptions where SB's instruction sets are lacking)

Even then, 15-20% is still a decent gain with a half decent IGP.
An 8 core with 15-20% over PD will still be very impressive though.

But it's not Sandy IPC.
No, I was probably getting carried away. At stock clocks, it would likely match Sandy per core. But that's because Sandy is clocked lower. IPC would still be behind, as you say.

I cant wait to get hold of Kaveri.

I'm going to replace my haswell i7 4770 k with high end kaveri.
My silent streacom will be getting a 65w kaveri upgrade

Kaveri looks to be brilliant, but it's not going to compare against a 4770K. If you're aware of that that's fine, but it's best to make it clear :p

I dont mean to sound big headed. But I switch between CPU's and GPU's at will. I am very much aware of power differences but love new technology.
I was hoping for big things with that Haswell CPU but nothing really new there.
AMD have some great new technology inside that APU. And I will probable keep hold of it until the next generation of AMD APU's.

I dont even think the two are comparable any longer. They both have different market segments. AMD has kind of created a market segment all alone there. Just look at all the mobo manufacturers with their vast array of FM2+ boards waiting to ship.

Who said I was looking for an upgrade???
The power I require will be in that unlocked Kaveri APU.

mmm. I may have said that. But there is no way Kaveri is an upgrade and I would expect to get flamed had I stated that anywhere.

You seem very confused

Haswell and your 7990 (i assume you still have it) vs kaveri, If you think haswell's power is disappointing prepare to cry.

errr of course I have it.

I have no fear.

And Haswell power was extremely dissapointing compared to it's predecessor. Read the threads here.
And I actually have just ordered another 7990 for Quad Fire.
And yes they will be tested with Kaveri. And Kaveri will be tested without them. And I will have loads of fun doing it!

And meanwhile I while be finishing my masters degree in Computer science.

Because my life is that fun!!
:-)

oh and at least find a thread that has this apparent post. I dont believe I said it. And as you brought it up, please find it.
I would be interested to read all of the expected flaming posts that follow it. (Even I would flame someone if they said that).

Probably means mine, I think I've mis-read one of his Kaveri posts.
My bad.

EDIT : But anyone who's going for a 7990 Crossfire (7970 Crossfire) and changing the best gaming CPU out for a CPU that hasn't yet launched (And isn't in the same market) is a little nutty :p

EDIT 2: I don't think you've actually understood the post Th0nt.
