AMD Needs Your Help: Catalyst Driver Special Submission Form

I only had an AMD card for about a week but I immediately noticed how much larger the drivers were and how much slower windows boots were. I didn't need a lot of the stuff in the driver and would have liked the option to not install it.

Next Time you install a driver, select custom install. You can then choose what you want installed.

Germany wants:

The following applies to every Catalyst to date:

- Please integrate Downsampling functionality (custom resolutions) - that's the most important feature request!
- Please re-integrate Narrow- and Wide-tent CFAA, they look awesome on HD 5870 cards with SGSSAA
- The Edge-detect Downfilter doesn't work in any current game
- EQAA in combination with SGSSAA looks like garbage, texture shimmering can be seen on the whole screen (MSAA + SGSSAA is fine)
- The Vsync option in the CCC looks like a dummy, it can't disable Vsync in any game; you have to disable it in the games to get an effect
- Direct3D overhead is quite high (compared to Nvidia's current implementation)
- Random CPU spikes in Battlefield 4 @ Mantle

The most important thing is Downsampling...
You loose so many customers because of this.

Greetings from Germany

Minecraft-having to manually disable CrossFire is a pita.

The only way I can get Minecraft to launch is by manually disabling CrossFire via CCC.

Created a custom game profile with minecraft.exe, but as it launches via java(I'm assuming)-it doesn't work.

Report Submitted.

As hinted by the AMD driver team a wee while back-downscaling is coming, in that light, the single feature I would like implemented into CCC would be a keyboard shortcut to enable/disable CrossFire, can't be that hard can it?:)

Whats the sleep bug, as I have just got a 290 and most times it takes a age to go into standby/sleep?

Where if you leave pc on and it go's to sleep. If you move mouse pc will wake up but monitor will remain blank.

Full system restart needed.

Temp fix is to disable monitor sleep in Windows.

I'd like to echo what some other people have been saying here. Instead of focusing on adding new/additional software concentrate on improving the drivers.

I'm one of the people that installs the display driver only and do overclocking through MSi Afterburner. I hate having additional crap installed along with the essential display driver.

heres a simple tip stop adding things like raptr no one users it only matt.

make things as streamlined as possible not add extras.

so many companies have a great little ap or prog and just because its simple and works ooh we must redesign it and make it more complicated nooo !

keep it simple and work.

I use raptr! :). I like how it gives you a summary of how many hours you have played in a week. I then think, what am I doing with my life. Actually maybe it is best that I do not know :)

Well the only 2 probs I have with my R9 290...... The zerocore feature has a mind of its own, sometime the card switches off when screen goes off and sometimes it doesnt, but even if the card does turn off, its only off for a few mines, then it turns on again for some reason

When windows sleeps, most times it takes 20+secs to sleep, but on the very odd occasion windows will sleep within 3-5 secs, like it did with my 6950 card.

Thief (2014) in DX11 mode crossfire don't work.

Hi Gareth,

May i ask which drivers you're using?

Remember under DirectX11 the game must be running in 'full screen' mode as well as 'exclusive full screen mode' in order for crossfire to function as intended.

Have you taken a look at this thread? It would be handy to know if both of your gpu's are seeing any usage in determining what the problem is.

Finally, does crossfire work under Mantle in Thief?

I have added this through the form, but will say here it would be nice if you concentrate on some smaller titles to.

Bound by flame with crossfire results in annoying flicker.

Also, not sure if it can be fixed through drivers but trying to force aa results in odd colours.

Not a big issue, but sometimes the driver (14.4 and 14.7 beta) shows my R9 280X as a "Radeon HD 7900 series" card... This has happened a few times at random. Other times it will be correct and show " Radeon R9 200 Series". I've never had the sleep bug with the R9 280X or the R9 290 that some people talk about.

I've submitted feedback. When enabling/disabling crossfire the overdrive section loses it's settings, bloody annoying having to keep setting the target temp and max fan speed for each card.

I'm downloading the 14.7 RC3 drivers Gareth and will test it myself and report back shortly. :)

Hi Rich,

It should be possible to create application specific profiles on a per game basis. This will allow you to disable crossfire for certain titles without actually having to physically disable it. Doing it this way should allow it to remember your overdrive settings. If you use ULPS then the second gpu will remain asleep too so will be using zero power.

Oh yeah, that reminded me just how horrible the new overdrive overclocking setup is... Glad I don't actually need to use it!
