AMD "Never Settle" 12.11 Driver - benchmarks

Hmm well it looks like your core is clocking down correctly, is your voltage clocking down as it should?

Try putting the memory as low as it will go and see if that kicks it in to proper idle mode.

Overdrive should be disabled for a start, you've enabled it.

If you run that together with afterburner it could conflict. You shouldn't even enable it if you plan to use afterburner for overclocking.

"Enable Graphics Overdrive" is unticked, though?

Just to make it clear - my memory wouldn't downclock even before I opened CCC. First thing after installing the drivers I checked GPU-Z and memory was stuck at 1200.

Yes, the core is clocking down correctly and I think voltage is as well.

I have a question regarding AMD drivers in general:

Would i need CAPs for single card setup?
It's been a while since i've been on the red side.

I don't even install CCC because i don't want/need to use it and down't want overdrive installed when i have GPU Tweak.

Some do some dont, i've used it but not noticed the difference, so i dont bother, think matt swears by it?

Furry muffingtons.

Seems as though for some reason its just the memory on your setup which is not clocking down.

Do you have Trixxx installed by any chance? I'm seeing reports that trixx is causing some powerplay issues (due to un-official overclock method rearing its ugly head)

"
Max voltage at idle still exists for me after 12.11 6b install.

I have a SAPPHIRE 100352-2L HD 7950 and I'm seeing 1.244 V at 0% GPU Load with any OC profile applied."

"Are you using Trixx? Trixx makes the Vcore stay at 3d mode. That's why Trixx sucks for 7XXX Cards imho.
Im on Sapphire 7850 Not Vcore issue neither."

Where do i get these CAPs from? They don't seem to be with the drivers, unless i am blind?

Not blind mate, just looking in the wrong place. :)

Here's your homework. I want a full report on my desk by monday.

I did try Trixxx as well at some point, but I uninstalled it again as I preferred Afterburner. Haven't installed it again after I followed the steps in your guide, though.

I also tried the unofficial overclocking method in AB, but again, I have since uninstalled both AB (and settings) as well as Catalyst drivers as per your guide.

@Matt very little in fps, image slightly better, but drivers are a fair bit apart 11.8 -12.7 caps, if your on the latest driver official or beta, there really is no need for caps. But if the individual feels that an older driver is better for them then i could see the point in installing caps.

Homework completed sir ;)

Report on monday for detention and a possible spanking.

There is only good to come from having caps. Its game specific optimizations to image quality and performance. I agree its not essential, but to not use them is like cutting off your nose to spite your face.

If you have a big nose though, then by all means don't use them. :D

yep its huge and fat :p

But that's CAP1 for 12.10 I'm using 12.11

Yes it is, its the latest cap file to be used with any of the latest main drivers. They don't have to match, dont worry. :)

Caps get updated several times a month, so when the new ones come out just un-install the old ones, restart, install the new ones. :)

Your paint skills are almost as bad as your caps usage. :p

You could have snipped off the big white boarder lmao. :D

sounds like your install is borked. uninstall drivers and overclocking software and reinstall again starting with the new drivers.

install is not borked its cause they changed the ati drivers after 12.2 :(

basically what happens is afterburner or trixx starts before ati catalyst and causes lots of issues

why they havent fixed it i dont know

i just done driver sweep cleaned all ati stuff out just want ati driver no ccc installed and both trixx and ab should be fine then

Ah Dg, you need to follow my guide. However before you un-install afterburner untick start with windows and apply overclocks at startup, also delete your user settings to start from fresh. Do not keep them when un-installing. That's what is causing your problem.

Once you've done that follow the guide from the start and it will work properly and you will be able to have CCC+afterburner at the same time.

So CAPs aren't a part of the drivers? i.e. 12.11 doesn't contain the CAPs previous to it already as default?

That seems utterly retarded.

Going to update to Beta 6 tonight, hopefully this will fix my CCC not opening issue, otherwise I'll have to stay on 12.10 :(.

There are two different versions of CCC, one for old net framework users and one for the latest net framework 4.0.

Try both, one should hopefully work for you. :)

No they're not, the reason for that is caps are updated more frequently. Sometimes you get 2-3 new caps per month as new games come out.

The good thing about this is installing-un-installing caps takes about 3 seconds, not including the restart.

Thank you I will try tonight, I tried all sorts of fixes such as clean installs, reinstalling .NET 4 and to no avai, hopefully one of these will work tonight, thank you!

Good luck!

One other thing to try is installing net framework 4.5. :p
