AMD "Never Settle" 12.11 Driver - benchmarks

Great news for me 7870, Techpowerup is saying 10% boost!!

"an amazing 10% for the HD 7870. The HD 7950, HD 7970 and HD 7970 GHz Edition settle in at 7%. Single digit improvements may not sound like much, but these results are the biggest performance boosts we've ever seen through a driver update. Especially the 10% on the HD 7870 made it feel like a completely different card while gaming."

No, I don't think so. I've never had these flickering lines on the desktop nor I had any crashes. It only happens in certain games and it doesn't matter whether I run the card overclocked or at stock. On Catalyst 12.3 and 12.4 everything seems fine.

I wonder if there'll be some significant gains for the 7850 too? This 10 % performance increase for the 7870 is bonkers:P Good time to own one, I guess.

I want my drivers already. Guess it will be late afternoon they get released. I can't believe no one has leaked them yet. GIMME GIMME GIMME!!

I'll trust you a guide rusty when i get a working IP on how to do it using Chrome/IE. Done it many times before. :)

Yes i got the discount.

If you could also PM myself mate it would be very appreciated.

I wonder if nVidia will counter this with a price drop?

One can only hope

I'm hoping they have a counter offensive driver of their own but sadly I think not :D. I'm chuffed for AMD as I'm a red shade wearing hippy at heart but for the benefit of 3D, it was better suited to Nvidia.

Mon the AMD!!!!! :D.

Not to derail the thread but it is relatively simple.

Go to Internet Options in your Control Panel... Connections.... Proxy... Type in a US proxy IP and port, connect to Origin again.

Done. :)

I also agree with those that have said nVidia don't have anything like this to come. The 7970 is on paper a better card due to voltage control, faster bus etc. These drivers are effectively "catching up" to the nVidia equivalent cards in the games where nVidia outperformed AMD.

I'm happy - if the 8000 series come out the box with full potential unleashed it means the 700 series from nVidia will need to improve considerably from a max'd out GK104 to compete.

Competition = good for us people who aren't - dare I say it - fanboys and want the best card they can afford at the time of purchase.

AMD always release a special drivers towards the end of the year.

My first time with Nvidia, do they have any times historically they release a 'special' driver?

No mate. Nvidia are always on the ball and give the best performance within a short time frame instead of a year down the road ;)

O/T - Which BIOS do you use for your motherboard? Any problems? I was using an oldish one and PC wouldn't boot this morning. Had to restore from dual BIOS and then download the latest.

Hoping it's OK over time...
