don't know if posted already but here goes

We all know that AMD is preparing hexa-core consumer processors for the April~June timeframe in 2010. According to rumors on the web AMD will release not one but two of them.
Thge processors are obviously based on the Thuban architecture (Istanbul chips for servers) are compatible with socket AM3 and will have integrated dual-channel PC3-10600 (DDR3 1333MHz) memory controllers. We believe that Thuban processors will keep the AMD Phenom II brand name but like will be tagged as Phenom II X6 processors. The processors would feature 3MB L2 cache (512KB per core) and 6MB of L3 cache. The chips will be made using 45nm SOI fabrication process and though unconfirmed we expect them to run at roughly 3 GHz as the current server hexacore chips operate at 2.80 GHz already.

SMall guru note: Thuban is actually a star in the constellation of Draco. It also means “dragon” in Arabian language.

i was wondering that to, but still should be a really good chip for the price.

p.s a lot cheaper than intel's hexcore anyway.

From what I understand, they're pushing the boundaries of 45nm and the AM3 socket with these hexa-cores.

I may get one, probably won't though as I doubt it'll clock to 4ghz, which would be the only reason for me getting one, 4 cores is enough for me so far. :P

Will i9's have hyperthreading? I haven't seen anywhere denying or confirming it. Probally has been mentioned just didn't notice. Hyperthreading doesn't make a huge difference mind. Maybe with increased cores it will, who knows?

Hmm I'm thinking this AMD 6 core will be big and hot (I hope they suprise me)

Will i9's have hyperthreading?

Yes the i7 980X will have HT, as a recap see the spec below

I'm waiting for these hexa and octa core chips, quad core really isn't enough for me :p . They sound like a decent step up in 6 months time, price dependant of course.

Then again does the AMD processor have the hyperthreading like the i9. Didn't think so ;)

Wow.... hyperthreading.... however has AMD survived without it this far?

Something that would more than likely get turned off on the server chips anyway (the only reason I would need a hexacore chip any time soon is in a server).
