It's not rocket science to see that AMD & Nvida have the tech to give us over 200 fps in ultra gaming if they wanted too but are just holding back milking the money from us every couple of months , It kinda takes the **** to be honest as I'm happy to pay £500 for a Graphics card but not if it only gets knocked of the top spot a couple days after release . The people that have just purchased the AMD 290x must be ****ed of knowing they could have paid a little more or waited a little longer for the 780ti that has just ripped it to peace's with a 30% increase in graphics power , all Nvidia did was wait and bang ! see you later AMD, So the tech was their all a long ! I really want to buy a Graphics card that will play all games at ultra at 2560 x 1440 res ..... I know the tech is their to do this but we have to just wait and wait like muppets while these two company's just increase the power a noch a little to out power each other, Just give is a 50FPS boost ffs and stop messing about and give us the tech we want now.

Why is this always happening??? AMD released the 290x and it was an ass kicker of the titan and for not that much. But Nvidia just likes to troll us so much, they just move their thumb and release a card that beats the R9 290X fairly good. And it's NOT EVEN A NEW CARD. That's all fine, but COME ON, the price Nvidia??? Really??

From a gaming point of view I was going to buy 290x last week thinking ya this is the top card and will be for a good 2 months or so and Bam ! Nvida release 780ti , Everyone who purchased 290x has been screwed man.

290X vs 780Ti price difference ... They're competing in different price brackets mate! The 780Ti is out on it's own

EDIT: And if you're out for the most powerful single card out there (not single GPU) 7990 still trumps 780Ti and for WAY less money

What's a better investment , A card that hits 95c on full power or a card that runs at 80c and is not even running and cost £100 more ?

My money is on a card that doesn't need to burn to work as it should.

it pays to stay one generation behind, then you can grab all the bargains when the hype and hoopla has died down:p;):D

I havn't long gone to a 7970

Exactly, just look at the R9 280X release. We saw 7970s as low as £200. Meanwhile we have R9 290X and GTX 780 which cost over twice more, all for additional 20-40% performance.

Card was designed to run @ 95C. I'd save myself £100 and pick up a 290X for almost 780Ti performance. We're yet to see Mantle too, so AMD still have something up their sleeves to pull out.

It sounds a bit like you are unhappy you wont have the fastest gpu at the price you wanted. Sadly component evolution is non stop and if anything the price reductions we have seen recently are due to this constant outdoing each other. Nvidia are more expensive generally, i knew this before committing to a new sli setup this week. I'ts down to preference, and what your priorities are.

I know what you mean. 100+fps @1440p just isn't the same when I know someone else has a card doing 105+fps - my whole gaming enjoyment just got, like totally ruined man.

The Bottom Line

As we have noted several times now, the Radeon R9 290X dominated the GTX 780 and GTX TITAN in Ultra HD 4K display gaming. The new GeForce GTX 780 Ti changes this ownage, and gives AMD competition at Ultra HD 4K resolution. The GeForce GTX 780 Ti gives you exactly the same gameplay experience as the Radeon R9 290X at Ultra HD 4K display gaming.

The statement above is very important. Though the AMD Radeon R9 290X now has competition at Ultra HD 4K display gaming, it isn't being "owned" by the GTX 780 Ti. The GTX 780 Ti, at $150 more, only equals the R9 290X. Both video cards are even, or on par with each other at Ultra HD 4K gaming.

The fact is that the Radeon R9 290X is delivering the same performance once again for a $150 savings. It takes the competition a $150 more expensive video card just to perform on par with the Radeon R9 290X. This reinforces our conclusion once again that the Radeon R9 290X is an incredible value right now. You really do get a lot of performance for your money.

The GeForce GTX 780 Ti has helped NVIDIA match the Radeon R9 290X in performance at Ultra HD 4K display gaming. However, AMD is doing it for $150 less. The only benefits the GTX 780 Ti holds over the reference R9 290X at this point, is that it is quieter and produces less heat. It's hard to justify the sound profile as being worth a $150 price premium.

This is the case with most business' in all walks of life but because you have a personal interest in this one they should listen to you? You are not being forced to buy the very best and sound self entitled regardless of being right or wrong.
