Amd & Nvidia ripping us off !

You could have grabbed a pair of 7950's for around £175 each a short time ago from here and that would stomp all over a 780Ti/290X.

I never understand these threads....

I agree with op that there should be limits to how much they can deliberately slow down the progress of tech not from a moneytary standpoint but more over a computer progress stand point, however i don't think the gtx780 ti destroys the 290x (well it defiantly does cooler wise "toaster") and tbh the reason why nvidia put such a big price tag on stuff is because they actually have extra features that ati really just don't have.

Ati are cheap and really good performers
Nvidia are expensive good performers and come with extra features like phyx or the new gsync or 3D Vision

GPUs and CPUs have always trickled out upgrades, if nvidia and intel gave us their very best hardware we wouldn't need to upgrade for the next 5-10 years...they'd be out of business.

For god sakes can you not see someone has really hurt the op epeen call the cops he has been ripped off

Of course Nvidia have had tech in reserve look at how long the 780 had been out without the 290x the ti would never have been release. You have not been ripped off though you paid a set price for the performance you recomend. No where was it said that card xxx would be the fastest for any set amount of time. That was your own thinking and you were wrong

My main problem guys is I have upgraded to 2560 x 1440 Monitor so would want to play games at these settings and on ultra and get 60fps all the time. I just think it sucks that even the top end card like 780ti and 290x only just hit around 50-57 max from Benchmarks , would have expected for £500 -600 to get over 70 fps atleast , I'm just disapointed, I will just wait a little longer as I want a single Graphics card non of this sli stuff that will just play top games on max settings at this res. Thx

Get a 7990. That card even stock is a beast, beating even an overclocked 780ti at 5120x1600. The only game a 780ti that comes close to it, is Metro at that resolution. (and still the 780ti heavily overclocked).

And for the same money of the 780ti you can get a 7990 and a cheap 7970 or 280X for tri-fire. I doubt something will beat that for 4-5 years at 5120x1600 also.

Nothing else of single GPU solutions can beat it. And at the cost of a Titan you get 2 of these!!!! Seriously. If that isn't the BEST value/perfomance card EVER, then what is?
And still you can grab 2 290pro for the cost of a 780ti.
