AMD on the road to recovery.

Yes in rendering you are comparing a 6 core to 8 core cpu.
Im not comparing a 6core cpu to an 8core CPU. Im comparing a 300€ cpu with a 300€ cpu.
You cannot consider just one. Pricing is interesting metric to use but it is not a good one because both Intel and AMD will price too high at launch if they have a great product with good performance.
I consider Ryzen 1 to be the best series AMD had, at least compared to the competition, since basically their 200$ part was smacking the 350$ i7 right in the head. After that, they kinda slowed down / upping the prices / lowering core counts, it was absolutely ridiculous what happened.

Graphs, graphs everywhere. 3.5 years, 27% performance increase. GO amd :D \

There was such a thing as the 5600 none X which was $100 cheaper at $199.

Not in 2020 there wasn't, that was released in 2022, lol. That still results in 10% performance gain per year compared to the similarly priced r5 1600 :D

Just think about it. I did in fact have an R5 1600, bought for 215 in 2017. If I upgraded in 2022 for the same 215 euros, I would have gained 10% mt performance per year. :D

You can just say you hate AMD you know? That is totally acceptable position to take.

It really is, I hate Intel, i like a lot of their products but as a company, while none of them are good, they are all pretty much bad but i have a particular destain for Intel.

I'd still buy their products tho if they make sense to me, and have...

You are mixing economics with engineering. When AMD finally had a killer product yes they priced it high to help pay off the debts they had incurred from running at a loss for the previous decade, this is the economics part of the equation. If you take that out of the argument and only look at engineering then the 3800xt to the 5800x is over a 20% increase in a single generation , that is an incredible generational uplift and why Ryzen 3 was priced so high. The power increased to deliver that performance so that is a downside and has to be considered in elevaluating the cpu.

Holly #### lol....

Arguing with him is a joke, seriously, i like a good debate and with this guy you have to watch everything he says carefully, never take anything he says as read because #### me.....

The only only chip from AMD that didn’t impress me that much was the Ryzen 2000. It was OK but not much incentive to upgrade from a 1000 series. Fantastic if you was still on an Intel system of course.

Same.... the 2000 series was a waste of sand, barely any better than the ones it replaced.

i skipped that one...

Even then AMD did still offer chips like the 1600AF and 3300X.

I do think AMD left some money on the table though. I’ve also felt guilt buying kit.

In fact, I am, but thats whats important to me as a consumer. Having a CPU that is 10000% faster is completely useless to me if it's also priced 10000% higher than the one I already have, right? So sure, in terms of engineering amd has made bigger strides than intel did during the last decade, but for me - the actual consumer - not that much

I don’t mind Intel, but they have to offer me something. If AMD and Intel where dead even in every regard, I’d flip a coin. If Intel was dead even with its platform but struggling financially I’d have no problem buying Intel.

Its their anti competitive behaviour, their bullying tactics that did it for me, i detest that sort of thing, i really really do.

Once they won they did this to us:

2700K to 7700K +37%, not even 40% in 5 generations, the sort of people who do that ^ so they can then go on to do < that are narcissist.

Yes, I have to agree with you on that point. Intel’s culture is still very dodgy and the company was/is run by the wrong people in many regards.
