AMD Piledriver FX-8 Eight Core 8350 Black Edition 4.00GHz
or
Intel Core i5-3570 3.40GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor

Whats your main usage> gaming? and what sort of budget (if any) do you have for your whole system?

Neither. FX8320

I think maybe this thread is loaded for maximum trolling, which probably won't happen as AMD are such a spent force now :D

Fx8320 is better for value for money vs the 8350 but if you wish to overclock go for the 8350 as you can get higher clocks than the 8320

i might go with the AMD all because i will only have the Zalman CNPS11X Extreme to cool the INTEL

AMD or Intel?

Tbh I thought that was a joke question when I saw the thread..

Is their any reason to go AMD right now?

Anything from a used 2500K / 2700K or a good deal on a 3570K / 3770K would be nice, or maybe stretch budget to a 4770K.. With any of those ^^ you're looking at Extreme performance with fraction of price and power use of AMD equivalents.

I hope AMD become competitive again with Steamroller..

It's not at all true to say that AMD cannot offer good competition to Intel at similar prices for the majority of games.

A very brief look at benchmarks from the techspot review, all max quality -

Just Cause 2
8350: 86fps
3770K: 87fps

Witcher 2
8350: 65fps
3770K: 69fps

Crysis 2
8350: 35fps
3770K: 37fps

From hardwareheaven:

BF3
8350: 74fps
3570K: 72fps

And so on.

All at stock clocks. The 8320 easily overclocks to beyond 8350 clocks, and costs ~£120.

If you play strategy type games (e.g. Starcraft II) or other CPU intensive games, it'd be better to go with Intel.

Upon reading the thread I believe the OP is trying to troll.

Trying to provoke a reaction?

However if it's a genuine question the Intel 3570K, based on the motherboard he has already and the fact it's a better chip.

I would like to get the 3570k however i heard that it runs very hot, and all i have is a Zalman CNPS11X Extreme. Would that cooler be okay or do i need to invest in a bigger and better cpu cooler?

When people say it runs hot they mean compared to Sandy bridge. It runs at sensible temperatures still, not anywhere near as hot as Prescott P4s for example.

That cooler will be fine, go for the 3570K, awesome CPU.
