AMD/PCGamer E3 2015 thread

I suspect the Fury Nano is going to be the AMD version of the 750Ti, a low power and small 1080p card that merely hints at what is to come with 400 series in 2016.

Still it seems AMD are at least starting to try and compete and take the lead on new technology, but really the thing they need to lead on most of all is still a die shrink.

The Nano is Fiji.

The nano is faster than a 390x by the looks of things at half the power and the 390x is aimed at 4k so why cant the nano do anything higher than 1080p?

Only thing similar to the 750ti or rather what it has in common is probably size and power usage but smashes it completely out of the window with performance. Also it has double the memory. So how its even comparable to the 750ti in gaming regards is just wuuuuuut? form factor maybe.

The Nano is clearly meant to bung in a SFF with no OCing or maybe an undervolt.

The other mainline SKUs have to be full length only to support OCing circuitry.

Not watched anything, but from what I've read on here I can't say the Nano interests me. I've got big enough cases that size isn't an issue. I wouldn't build a SFF because I'm so used to multi-GPU systems now.

However, the fact that everyone says it performs so well is making the Fury/FuryX very interesting!

because AMD have announced a card that will offer similar performance and similar power consumption to nvidia's cards at similar prices?
I fail to see your logic.

If similar is +/- 5% then I think you have a reasonable (albeit slightly cynical) point. But this is feeling a 10% to 20% level of advantage. If so, I think we're probably getting out of the "similar" domain as it's normally used.

What numbers would you put behind "similar"?

the presentation was pretty fun, wasnt super long & it had huddy so thats win already id of rushed the stage and not let go of him lol
what followed after not so fun! :o
24hrs of that should be punishment for hurting animals or something
so bad!

well there's a ark patch today so thats interesting^^;

Anyone think we are going to get performance figures compared to Nvidia or at least a mention of when the NDA lifts from the conference tonight?

I wasn't expecting the reveal in the conference from earlier, I dont know if I've been under a rock but thought the cards would be unveiled during this AMD/PC gamer

I couldn't give a crap about form factor. You think I'm going to change my case to take advantage of the 6 inch length compared to like 10 for normal cards? Most enthusiasts have a full tower on here.

Your obvious ire tends to suggest that you expect a lot of people to do exactly that.

I'll definitely build an ITX HTPC for the living room next year, and it will inherit the Fury Nano, or Nanos that I buy this year.

As for my main system, I guess I'll get rid of the FT03 and go for a smaller mATX case ... or maybe even one of the more capacious ITX ones.

Unless you have a dozen HDDs, why with smaller form factor cards would you want a big case? The vast majority of cases sold ARE NOT full tower, and nor are they for enthusiasts either. One of the main disadvantages of multi card setups (and large cards in general) is the problems it causes for cooling (and without a huge case stuffing everything in) ... air flow goes to ****, there's more noise and more heat. You can now achieve better air flow, less noise and less heat in a smaller case. Seems like a pretty massive win to me?

I certainly know half a dozen people who haven't had a PC in 5-10 years who will want an ITX system with one of the Fury SKUs or their successors. Currently they don't want a PC unless it's in the living room and tiny and looks good AND has good performance. Now such a thing exists, and you won't have to pay £5k for the privelege to a specialist ITX systems firm, lots of people will go for that. What does NVIDIA have to offer in this sector? Diddly-squat.

Performance NDAs (and first reviews) almost always lift on the evening before availability in EU, since general availability hits in the Far East a couple of hours later. No doubt there'll be a lot of nodding and winking and cap doffing until then ...
