AMD Phenom 9600+ Black Edition in stock!

The new stepping should also increse clock speeds and thusly probably overclocking. i can't see them outdoing c2d q6600 though. if the b3's are hitting 3.4 ghz on air as regular as the q6600s are then i may stay with amd. i think it would be interesting to run a spider platform if they sort the cpu and chipset issues out. the gfx devision finally seems to be kicking ass again. even if it is just at a price bracket.

I might grab one once the B3 stepping arrives, but I've only just recently installed a 5000+ Black Edition and with it running at 3.4GHz do I really need any extra power? Highly doubtful.

The Black edition AMD CPUs are an intriguing option and are a great gift to the enthusiast. However, I don't think the B2 stepping BEs can make the most of an unlocked multiplier and personally I'll be waiting until there is a B3 stepping CPU for under £100 before upgrading.

It's a shame that they're not cheaper than a Q6600. Like £140 maybe. Then they would be really good value and I would have got one instead of ordering an Intel set up.

AMD always used to be cheaper and perform better. Now they're neither. :(

Because we're still being taken for a ride on prices, if you really want a Phenom it's pretty easy to find them for much cheaper than most sites sell them for. Imagine it'll end up the same for the black edition, £155 is probably a fairer price and more inline with normal 9600 prices.

Ordered 2 days ago and if "cowboy-link" ever get their act together may even get to use it :P
