AMD Phenom Quad Core 9600

i think your talking about a very small percentage of the market then if you cant use a keyboard. Also why should an intel board work any less then a amd board? As far as im aware the intel boards are the superiour ones which arn't needing bios fix's to try and get the amd quads to overclock.

To uise the arguement of well i dont want to buy an intell board incase something doesn't work on it = fail tbh.

To use the argument that the q6600 will have a significantly longer life span because it overcklocks to 3.6ghz on air. And that intel are pumping out new chips a lot faster which work! and will work with the current intel boards means it is the better investment. = good arguement

and your point of AMD board costs 100+ and intel costs 150+ is a fail also. There are many good P35 boards under 100 quid now which will overclock well.

are you aware there are bad problems with them and they dont work over 2.4ghz properly which means overclockign them is pointless? And that the q6600 is by far the better deal and will overclock to 3.6ghz.

If not its not to late to cancel :p

They don't work over 2.4ghz? What a load of absolute tosh, overclocking isn't pointless and they do work, maybe you should actually do some research...
Have you ever actually used a Phenom system?

well said mate....

if a person hasn't owned a phenom how can they really say anything about it...

it isn't a very small percentage of the market, it's a lot more than u think...

intel boards isn't got the feature to be able to do all overclocking in windows. am i right? the new amd 790fx motherboards as got the feature to be able to do all overclocking in windows. no need to go in the bios... i guess u didn't know because u don't own one, right?...

as for the bios fix, it isn't needed to overclock.. im not running the bios fix and i overclocked my phenom to 2.6ghz without problems. i will push it more when i have time... so i have no idea where you got "They don't work over 2.4ghz" from..

please do your research better or buy a phenom system then u can say if it's good or crap.

why is it when someone says it it worth upgrading an AMD to AMD most post back saying get Intel. if someone wants AMD give then the advice.

Yeah, that's a great feature, except when you use any OS other than Windows it's rendered useless. BIOS overclocking is quite simply the best way for the vast vast majority of people. I would see decent Windows overclocking tools as a slight bonus, certainly not a deciding factor on which platform I would purchase.

yes i agree most people overclock via bios which is fine. but for disabled people that can't use a keyboard (like me) it's impossible to overclock via bios for themselves. this was my reason to 8igdave why i bought the 790fx motherboard.

Im sorry but you asid you cant use a keyboard or something which i had understood and fail to see why you have constantly used bold writing to try point it out further.

If this is why you need to go amd then fine, but this isn't really a reason not to go intel over amd for the majoirty of people. I would have thought that the amount of disabled overclockers is a small percentage.

And thers no need to get all agressive with me as you still missed the point of you claiming that intel boards cost over 150 quid which is why you shouldn't buy them and that some thinsg wont work on an intel board but will on an amd board? MM how does that work exacly?

As for me saying thety dont work over 2.4ghz. Im sorry i worded it wrong. They dont overclock anywhere near as well as the q6600, as above has shown the q6600 is faster clock for clock. The q6600 overclocks higher o and the q6600 doesn't have a chance of crashing over 2.4ghz. O and the q6600 doesn't have a bios fix which makes it overclock worse to try and fix a crashing problem which should never have been there.

So why buy a product you know has crashing problems over 2.4ghz whether u ahve had them yet or not you cannot argue with the reports. Why buy a product slower then its competitor and overclocks far worse? Quite a few had to upgrade their mobos anyway so why go amd over intel? And if you didn;t then as i said before intel has many new cpu's up and coming as far as i know amd are still tryign to fix the phenom. Intel is likely to be faster then amd going on current track record and their design which they are only shrinking.

Stop being so defensive over your phenom when they are completly out classed by the opposition. im not a fanboy im just using the best product out of the two.

Just incase you missed what id actually said.

Have you ever actually used a Phenom system?

i worded it wrong, read above.

on a side note, do you use word recognition with a mic to type? I used to use it for doing long essays, works very well. The vista one allows you to click anything on the screen as it numbers all the buttons on screen and you just say the number.

This was a question about an AMD processor from a man who has just bought one, do some of you have no lives ? you have to come and dribble your addoration for a bloody cpu all over it and poke fun at the op for his choice ?

he has an am2 board, its his money, he isnt an overclocker, get over it and grow up ffs.

i put the word windows in bold to point out amd 790fx motherboard can be overclocked within windows.. intel boards can't.. simple as that.

If this is why you need to go amd then fine, but this isn't really a reason not to go intel over amd for the majoirty of people. I would have thought that the amount of disabled overclockers is a small percentage.
i didn't say this reason is for majorty of people. i said this was my reason for getting it. also i know a lot of disabled people that wanna do more by themselves on they computers including overclocking but they can't, but now its posable for them to overclock in windows.

And thers no need to get all agressive with me as you still missed the point of you claiming that intel boards cost over 150 quid which is why you shouldn't buy them and that some thinsg wont work on an intel board but will on an amd board? MM how does that work exacly?
i said £100+ for a good quality motherboard not 150+.... i know theres motherboards for £50+ but the cheap boards isn't always good... which i've found out before..

it doesn't crash when overclocked over 2.4ghz.. i don't have the bios fix and ive had it at 2.6ghz without any problems...

it seens like if a person wanna buy a phemon , they can't because people like u put them down just for something u wouldn't buy.. it's they money. they not using your money, its up to them what they want..

Stop being so defensive over your phenom when they are completly out classed by the opposition. im not a fanboy im just using the best product out of the two.
im not being defensive over it. but your just going by reviews, u don't own one...

no i don't... because i can't speak well... i use a on screen keyboard..

no it was more the point if he just bought it he has 7 days to send it back.

and so he should because you want him too ? if he sends it back he pays a restocking fee as its not a faulty item. as stated he has am2 and so has bought a phenom hence he was asking a question about this chip. a simple question at that. Intel didnt have to be mentioned here.

how would you feel if you bought a car you liked that was perfect for your garage and i came around your house, told you of a car that was 20% faster for 20% more and could be souped up more than your current purchase, but you would have to build yourself a new garage. and in the mean time we will all point out what a terrible mistake you have made by telling you about every single minor fault that wont effect its performance unless used in a rare scenario.

For one simple question to turn into this is not on!!. BigDave you really stooped low on this WHOLE thread with your fanboyism and it's certainly not your first time. It makes me furious. How the hell can you not understand what the OP had written and answered accordingly?. Why the hell did this thread turn into a debate when there was no debate to be had?. If you have something to say then BLOODY WELL SAY IT ON YOUR OWN THREAD and stop ruining an honest poster from trying to find some information out.

Your kind of attitude is what makes forums less attractive.
