Please can you advise me on the best CPU cooler for ~£30

I was looking at some, two being enclosed watercooler systems:

- NorthQ Siberian Tiger Liquid Cooling
- Xigmatek AIO-S80DP All-in-1 liquid cooling system
- Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme 120mm Heat Sink Fan for AM2 CPU (Without Fan)

I am looking for the best price/performance/easy installation. Feel free to suggest a better one not listed here for around the same price :-)

Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme with fan or Noctua NH-U12P

+1 - Have the same with a different fan, it's very good. Fan installation is a bit of a pain, I would suggest installing it before you install the HSF to the motherboard.
 
I have that mobo and a 9750, within everest i get low / mid 30's idle temps upto high 50's using stress tests. The case can make a BIG difference, i recently changed from an Antec300 which is a reasonable case for the price to a Cooler Master HAF932 and my cpu temps dropped by 7c.

I am using a Zaward Gyre cooler to help keep the PWMIC's cool as these get VERY hot under load so i would recommend you check the temps of those to using Abit's uGuru if nothing else.

I also agree bin the psu at the first possible chance you get.

So? Any comments on this one? Might solve my heating problem as according to AMD Overdrive my Core temps are 40 degrees idle on all 4 cores. So Im guessing the 60Degrees C Idle is from the PSU. Well I hope so anyway.

If this doesnt solve that 60 Degrees problem then its another purchase of a core contact freezer for me! :-)
 
40c is about right for idle.. my 9850 idle at 38-40 and load at 45-47c with a Arctic Cooling Freezer XTREME , tbh its a crap cooler. my old Thermalright sl-128 was much better.. i maybe putting it back on because it idle at 34-36 and load at 43-45c with that

I never understood why people look at the idle temps when they compare coolers. Unless your using extream cooling, the temp of your room will have more of an effect then what cooler it is (at idle).

Unless the Freezer XTREME is pants at full load too lol.
 
Regardless of what the PSU purchase solves or not, it was a good move, it will be much more reliable than the Q-Tec and hopefully however it will solve the instability in games.

It won't however solve the temperature problems, but if the computer is stable at those temps it's nothing to really worry about. If you want it fixed I would suggest you buy a good heatsink like the previously mentioned Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme, along with some good thermal paste, arctic silver etc and a good 120mm fan.

Using the stock AMD HSF on a high end chip is always going to give above average temperatures. I would suggest running Prime stress test to see how high the temps go with your current cooling. You can get it here: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Others/Home-Education/Prime95.shtml

A decent PSU, it should help clearing some of the hot air out of the case.
The stock heatsink isn't too good but it should do the job, might just need re-seated with some AS5 or similar.
 
Indeed, a small amount of AS5 or similar might help, especially if you used the gunk that AMD put on the bottom of their heatsinks.
