I should say 1 chip, rather than same core, as far as I read the idea is to have a set up like a dual core, but one cpu and 1 gpu. The benefits is you miss out *** entire motherboard. For communication between the two.

AMD really aren't doing so badly. Their sales have done nothing but increase, especially since Dell started using them in their systems.

As for the X2 6000 - the naming conventions used by both AMD and Intel are no more misleading than the GHz ratings. The speeds of the processors mean less now than they used to - it's the architechture that's important.

Dell was very bad for them, the power buying of dell meant, they slashed the price of amd chips.

Their market share is still doing well, irrespective of profit. AMD are in it in for the long haul and right now they're battening down the hatches until they release their Core 2 Duo contender at the end of the summer.

It will have to do more than contend with Core2Duo, it being released a whole year after C2D. AMD will have to come back with something extremely fast, whilst still being value for money to knock Intel off top spot.

How about a 10GHz 128 core CPU with onboard modular graphics and physics chips One day maybe.

Treat their naming convention as totally seperate from Intel's and you won't go far wrong.
