Again I love how AMD do this, They share everything with the market yet Nvidia won't help make things like HBAO+, TXAA, Physx etc...Multiplatform, Not good for innovation and moving forward. *Nvidia user BTW*

You have a point. But at the moment, I cant see why anyone would buy an AMD card. Too many AAA games coming out which are Game wWrks.

I can see Mantle existing post DX12, only becuase AMD will pay developers to put it in their games.

Marketing tactic.

Or because it's a great way to enable Ultra options on AMD platform? From what we have seen the added cost of implementing Mantle alongside DX is acceptable for large studios who differentiate in the marketplace with effects and fidelity.

Suppose so. But if you can achive the same thing with DX12 and be cross platform?

Open standards is great because it benefits us all. It probably helps AMDs image as 'innovative' or just 'the good guys'.

Thing is though between a card that has all these open source features and a card which has all the same open source feaures plus some proprietry features, if they were the same price / performance, which would you buy?
I don't buy a chocolate bar because it contains fair trade chocolate, I just go buy the tastiest chocolate bar.

One single engine. And at the moment Mantle supported games are about what 5?

And Plants vs zombies doesnt count! :p

Each to their own. Most games I want in the future are Frostbite based and I will be pumping in hundreds of hours to Star Citizen, that's why I chose my 290 over a 780.

Nothing is ever free, Companies exist to make profit and only profit.

Yea that's true and some companies like to profit in different ways. Nvidia have been know to milk the hell out of their customers, where as AMD just like to make a decent tidy profit that doesn't cost you your kidney. ;)

Frostbite engine
Cryengine
nitrous engine from oxide
rebellion's engine (forgot what it's called)

These have all adopted mantle. Not a bad start to say it's a brand new API really. a lot of game devs are getting behind it. Where as before only DX was the main option.
