AMD® Phenom™ II Overclocking Thread

you can overclock it to your heart's content. just leave the cpu vcore at stock and see how far you get with the rest. (ie, most phenoms are capable of around 3.6ghz on stock volts, and theres things like max bus speed, northbridge clock, HT clock, ram clock/timings you can play around with in the meantime)

Hi All,..

I have the Phenom II 550 amd processor and I did unlock the extra 2 cores about 3-4 months ago when I got it... about 1 month ago My computer rebooted amidst encoding some AVCHD videos and I discovered the Processor ws really hot about 68 degress. I have never used stock cooler rather the Rev 7 (forgot whats its called cooler)

Now even with 2 cores my system is idling @ 50 and previously with 4 cores it idled at 37/38.

Am thinking of changing to water cooling....any advice please...

^ freezer 7 rev 2

Yeah that what I have got.....Strangely after this Post I opened up the case and discovered some dust on the Freezer 7 heatsink inbetween the heat sink and the fan, I blew it of and added another 120mm fan I had to the cas to get the heat out and I unlocked the remaing 2 cores again and now its idleing @ 39/40 and and encoding some movies now for my HTC Desire and its been up to 52 degrees max so far.... i ll throw some AVCHD encoding its way and see how its gonna cope.

Its been switched on and not actually doing anything when I was running 3.2 but I was benching at 3835mhz and it decided to step the multi down.

Its going under water very soon so after a good prime run and its all stable 3.8 will be my 24/7 clock

I have the 550 BE unlocked to Tri-Core, I unlocked the 4th one without any voltage modification but my PC wouldn't boot.

How do I increase the vcore to see if it will boot? I think my mobo is asus M4A77D

Well i have a 550 under water runnig at stock speeds with 1.4v

Will update my post as i'm going for 4ghz and unlocknig my cores again.

Currently got a 1055T at 3.6GHz. Ive had it at 3.85GHz but the temps are getting out of control.

Im currently using a Thermaltake V1 cooler, and its not coping at all.

Is the h50 worth the money, or is a Noctua NH-D14 better?

Hey guys ive just bought a Phenom II 720 BE and i was just wondering can anyone recommend me a good overclock? also i have the brand new cooler atm unused and i have a Xigmatek CD901 from my old pc, Should i just clean this off (what do i use?)? and put some new thermal paste on or should i just use the stock cooler?
thanks

Currently got my 1055T running at 4.1Ghz using a TRUE with two fans push and pull. Getting temps of around 61c maxed out. It is not 100% stable yet still a little bit of tweaking to do with it.

That is with prime. Been playing ARMA 2 a lot recently and it gets up to around 45c. It idles at around 36c so doesnt move that much during gaming.

Using two low CFM fans at the moment which im going to replace tonight and see what the temps are like afterwards.

Been thinking about a watercooling set up just for the CPU with a 120.2 rad.

Just a line to thank all the contributors in this thread.. It has been a great help in O/clocking my own 1055T.. So far I have my system pretty rock solid.. The only real problem I found was getting the CPU NB to stay stable... So I just bit the bullet and kept upping the CPU NB Voltage - 1.5218 and a little tweak of the DRAM Vol - 1.695.. And now it prime 95 lovely both blend and small FFT's...

Just 1 thing still bothering me though is this CPU appears to throttle periodically for no apparent reason... even when temps are around 50c it will half the multi.. is there anyway of stopping this..

Guys what's the deal with phenom ii x6 1055t how to overclock it, with 965 i only needed to touch DRAM voltage cpu volt and cpu-nb voltage but that doesn't cut it for this cpu.

Do I need to up the HT and NB voltages to get 4ghz stable?

On MY Asus M4a 88TD, I have the following to achieve 4ghz

CPU/HT 286mhz
CPU Vol 1.4343

CPU/NB 2574.1
CPU/NB Vol 1.5218

Dram Vol 1.695

I found I could not get NB stable with less Voltage...

Hope this helps!!
