** AMD R290X BF4 EDITION - WE ARE NOW TAKING PRE-ORDERS / DEPOSITS!! **

I don't get why people are moaning, if the deposit was non-refundable then yeah, but nowt wrong with this imo. Does it's job from a marketing hyper perspective, but doesn't screw over customers.

I have jumped in the queue too, was going to buy one anyway providing the price/performance is right so may as well.

If its not my fall back plan is a 780, either way will do :D

I plan on getting a 290X but I just ordered BF4 + Premium for £55 which I think is a bit of a bargain... If this deal was the actual 290X price once it's generally released plus BF4 or even BF4 + Premium for free I would be all over this throwing money at anyone who cared

I really don't understand how so many people complain about the specs and preorder, its a marketing stunt. When they sell out 8k cards to the guys who would happily pay £1000 for a Titan and would actually pay £1000 for another new faster card... there are more than enough rich people to cover 8k cards worldwide. But marketing wise when they sell out preorders they'll hype it up as "everyone wants the new AMD card".

If it was 200k and only 10k people preordered Nvidia would spin it the other way, but limited preorder on a card people can pretty easily guess the final price on isn't exactly difficult to sell out or use media to spin it as massive interest.

THere is actually the potential situation that AMD is getting poor yields on 430mm2 cores and there won't be that many available.

the pessimist would say its really a survey for them figure out how much they can get away with charging for it

I just think it's nuts to pay a deposit for something you have no idea what the launch price will be, it's getting like console pre-orders. Not OCUK's fault, but it's a damn strange business model, if they come in dearer than Titan well I told you so.
