Just out of curiosity Gibbo how did you gain access to voltage control? I noticed there was a new version of Afterburner yesterday so wondered if it had been added in.
There was? Beta 16?

a reference cooler is there to do a job. its not there to provide unboundaried overclocking potential.
you wouldn't overclock your 4770K on a stock heatsink and expect it to be efficient and quiet. expecting more than stock cooling from a stock cooler is counter productive.
would a 120mm radiator be enough to cool one of these in its own loop?
Anyone know when we will see the first cards with custom coolers?
I love the price/performance of the 290X but hate the heat/noise levels.
we will have a tech labs card available soon with an aftermarket air cooler.
But i plan on doing same thing. Put water block on and then see what sort of clock can i get out of it If Gibbo does 1200 on air that should be my starting point for daily clock on water
you do know Gibbo was doing that OC in the middle of a freezing car park at 3am on the back of his 911 ?
It actually makes a good torture bench area, as long as you put a plank of wood down.
Don't give me ideas, I did it in the office actually with heating on.
Opening a window, fan blowing card air, I'd have managed 1250 core in all benchmarks no problem.
You could always stick one end of a hose ducting outside the window, and tape the other end to the intake of the caseDon't give me ideas, I did it in the office actually with heating on.

Water and electronics don't mix well together...Gibbo next up is keeping whole motherboard in fridge
