AMD R5 4500 'waste of AMDs reputation and credibility'

Much to Steve Burke's frustration i'm sure, i suspect these will sell well given its basically a monolithic Ryzen 3600, or a 6 core 12 thread Ryzen 3300X.

The Ryzen 3600 is still selling well at a lot more than the $129 MSRP cited for the Ryzen 4500.

Yeah, because they can? its a 50 watt CPU so requires very little cooling even in a small box, while at the same time is more than capable of running an RX 6600XT and has good productivity performance for some video editing, its perfect for a tiny box under the TV, which is probably what a lot of them are bought for. He has nothing to be angry about. IMO he's being a complete ###### for being so angry about it.

I think we are completely out of touch laughing at CPU's like this with our giant multi thousand £ towers sitting next to us.

But i do think its over priced, it would be good at $99, yet they will sell in high numbers at $129.

#8 in the current best sellers.

The laughing isn't because we're all packing vastly more powerful systems, it's because it is overpriced. If you are building a new budget system you are better served with a 12100F on B660 both costing under £100 (yes personally I would get a better CPU anyway but then you leave yourself open to not making a fair comparison). If you are upgrading on AM4 then I would just get a second hand 3700X / 5600 or similar.

He called it a waste of sand, the thumbnail has "BAD" emblazoned on it in huge capitalised font, all the way through the video he critiques it with clownish theatrics like it is a bad CPU.

Is it a "Bad" CPU? No, the guy is a snob.

He does but by "we" and "us" I assumed you meant people on this forum.

This kind of journalism does appeal to some in our segment of society, one of these journalists who likes these hyperbole Youtube titles and thumbnails decided it was ok to harass Lisa Sue on Twitter for something she never even implied let alone said, he took something she did say entirely out of its context and then substituted his own to justify it, it was no different from some of the most toxic #### you see on that platform from some of its most toxic frequenters, this was a large mainstream reviewer and yes a small number of people on this form loved it.

I'll say again, this sort of crap appeals to people, it is why they do it, its for the clicks, the money that generates.

Its not a bad CPU, Steve Burke is totally off with that, he is a bit of a snob and looks down on anything that isn't high end, there is nothing wrong with its performance, it just isn't high end.

It is over priced. But that's it.

You must be thinking of some other Steve Burke, because the Steve Burke I know of rated the 12100 & 12100f very highly which, obviously, a snob who looks down on anything that isn't high end wouldn't ever do.

Just to let you all know, I snagged a 3600x for £126 the other day off Fleebay...
Sure it was bids and I was lucky there were no serious buyers as this chip sells for like £220 new.

What does this new waste of sand offer that a 2600 used don't offer? or for someone like me who grabs a deal on by what seems like a superior CPU?

There are many different kinds of snob, you can't compare the 12100 and the 4500 and conclude one is bad while the other is good, the 4500 is energy efficient, its not much if any different in games vs the 12100 and its better at MT productivity.

The performance is significantly higher on the 3600X vs the 2600. i had a Ryzen 3600, it is a good CPU even by todays standards.

a snob who looks down on anything budget wouldn't rate the 12100/12100f at all, let alone very highly. Do you understand what that says about your statement or not?

I said there are many different kinds of snob, he's looking at two CPU's that are pretty comparable in every aspect, either one looses some and wins some against eachother, but never by overtly significant amounts, the only real difference is who made them.

Right, let's just cut to the chase.

You lied. You made of that BS statement about Steve Burke because you dont agree with him. And when pulled up on it you try to suggest the only difference is who made the processors, as if Steve didnt rip the 11900k to shreds....when we all know he did.

At least admit you pulled that statement out of your arse.

You can interoperate what you like, i don't care to convince you of anything, you asked and i gave you an answer, your not liking that answer doesn't change the fact that i think he's a snob, its also not the first time i've said that about him, i said the same thing when he used the same clown act to sniff at the first generation threadripper using the tired old "AMD MOAR COARS" critique. Which didn't age well.

Interoperate?

I didnt ask you a question, I made an observation. And if it was a question, your reply wouldn't have answered it anyway. "There are many kinds of snobs" does not in any way address what i said, so it's really not about whether i like your answer or not, it's about your completely inability to justify the bull you're writing about Steve Burke. You saying it previously doesn't make any difference, either - You were just as wrong then as you are now.

GN spend a lot of time reviewing budget gear along with everything else. They wouldn't even bother if they weren't interested. This is demonstrable fact.

Ok, i'll be blunt, i think he's a brand snob.

C'mon we all know who on this forum shills for each manufacturer and sorry to say you're firmly in team red. Even with this Turkey you just can't help it. I admit it took you a while to compose some sort of defence but it's a turd.

It was the Hardware Unboxed fella the other week and now GN :(

GN only has a 3% l:d on that 4500 vid so even AMD fans can't be bothered to dislike as probably agree.

Brand loyalty is a one way street, all AMD and Intel want is our money, so imo the best thing to buy is what best suits your needs at the time. I have been using Ryzen since it came out but switched back to Intel when I built my new PC on Sunday. When I build my next PC, in a few years time, I’ll look at what both companies have available and buy the CPU that best suits my needs no matter which company makes it.

The only brand loyalty I have is for Yorkshire Tea.
