8.2 !!!!!

All credibility blown in that chart when you look at the prices.

A fixed estimate for the AMD card and a price range for a card that is getting launched next lol.:D

Agreed and one thing DM has said that I agree with is HBM price and it won't be cheap till they have is mastered, that's certain. AMD can't afford to swallow the profits.

+1

I think to have 8gb on the 390X is going to be very expensive, fortunately with the launch price of the Titan X it will give AMD the opportunity to charge a bit extra for their card to cover the cost.

Highly doubtful. 8gb would have seemed a little tame, as the last Titan had 6gb. I always thought the next Titan would have 12GB to be honest and I would have been very surprised if it had less.

With a 384bit bus the Titan X was always going to be either 6gb or 12gb. Trying to get 8gb on the card would have been difficult.

Yeah bit strange for NV to show their hand this early.

If Fiji ends up being faster AMD will have a year+ of superiority to lord over them.

I don't think that Fiji will be quite as fast as a Titan X but it will be within 10% which is the problem for NVidia.

If NVidia had waited any longer the Titan X would have been up against a card that was almost as quick but half the price.

Not that impressive is it when you look at it vs the 290X, i think even the 380X may be snapping at its ankles.

I think you will see some very impressive results when the Titan X is used in SLI @2160p.:D

The real problem for the 390X will be the cut down 6gb version of the Titan X as it will sell for about the same price as the AMD card.

Its not going to scale any higher than it should, it will scale about the same as the 390X CF.

The Titan X will be around £900, i can see the 980TI being around £100 more expensive than the 390X with less Buffer and less performance.

Even the 380X may be comparable.

I think you will find the Titan X @2160p will get a good increase over the 980 as it has not got the awful 256bit bus. You should see something along the lines of the Titan X @2160p beating out the 390X in the same way as the 980 beats out the 290X @1080p.

A rebadged 290X will not even get in the game up against a Titan X.

The 390X could be very expensive indeed with 8gb HBM and an AIO cooler making a cut down 6gb GM200 card look like a bargain.

Looking at the leaked rumoured specs for the 390X if true point to it being about 5% to 10% slower than a Titan X.

Kaap, imagine an 8GB Tonga revised 290X.

Hawaii vs Tonga (+10%)
3072 Shaders (+10%)
1050Mhz (+5%)
1500Mhz '400GB/s' (+25%)

In real terms a 380X going to be a solid 25%+ faster than the 290X which will already bring it to 85/90% of Titan-X performance.

Now look at the 390X

Hawaii vs Tonga (+10%)
4096 Shaders (+45%)
1024GB/s (+220%)
128 ROP's (+100%)

Thats ^^^^ a monster.

The worrying bit in those figures is the 4096 shaders, if it was a couple of hundred higher then I would say it would edge out a Titan X. The final performance will depend a lot on how the 390X architecture will perform, this is the big unknown until the real thing is benched.

Things like HBM will give very little in performance boost as once the memory is fast enough you won't get anymore performance as it will be bottlenecked by the GPU core.

The only real way to tell what is what is to wait for the new AMD cards to hit the shelves.

+1 for truth, I woukd be disappointed as an Nvidia fan right now, the TitanX looks overpriced and underwhelming, runs hot and loud like a certain AMD card they love to ridicule for that very reason, and is about to get smashed to bits by a superior newer tech product which will probably end up 25-35% cheaper as well

I think you may be in for a shock when the cost of adding 8gb of HBM is included in the price. New tech is seldom cheap.

While I am on the subject I am typing this on my totally silent 290Xs.:p:D

"Things like HBM will give very little in performance boost as once the memory is fast enough you won't get anymore performance as it will be bottlenecked by the GPU core."

I think your going to have egg on face with that Kaap, AMD themselves have said Memory Bandwidth is a Bottleneck for them, thats why they are going HBM.

AMD themselves have proved the above statement does not stand up with top notch memory performance on the 290X which manages it despite using slow memory chips. This of course will change in the future as GPU cores get faster and demand more from the memory which is where HBM comes in.

:D:p:D

I don't Black Screen until 1460Mhz on a 24/7 clock, 1520Mhz for Benching.

Crappy Elpida IC's.

I know what will happen, my performance will increase, which is why i run it at 1400Mhz 24/7. the performance is about 5 to 7% higher on average with that 13% overclock.

I only have 2560 Shaders, what do you think 4096 Shaders with 220% higher Memory Bandwidth will result in?

Don't forget when I use quadfire I am already using 11264 shaders and all the info has to go across the memory and bus to ensure the cards are seeing the same thing.

As to increasing memory speed you tend to get a small increase at lower resolution where the fps are higher and at high resolution like 2160p the increase is normally very small as the fps are lower.

I am using DDR4 3200mhz memory in my PC which has massive bandwidth but that does not mean games will run any faster as there are bottlenecks elsewhere.

have you read the reviews !! because the Titan X runs hotter in extreme 4K than the 290X  and by quite a long way

Are you serious, you do know what a reference 290X runs at don't you.:D

plus the new 390X is water cooled

Is it

No one knows for sure whether it is Water/LN2/Phase change/Air cooled or anything else for that matter.:D
