AMD Radeon Branded Memory

Looks like Hypertech or other generic stuff. Least they could have put a simple (and useless) metal heatspreader in company colours :p

Yea all of my CL7 Ripjaws can do CL6 at 1600 1.6-1.64v. The Trident CL6 kit i had (one got killed in a Hspreader removal incident :o using the surviving 2 with Ripjaws to make 12gb) can do this at 1.55v
 
They should have gone with red PCBs that would have made them stand out a bit :D and fit with the Radeon branding.

I didnt mean that the crucials are good, they are just cheapo. Why would anyone want these radeon modules over the ones I linked?

I still have my Geil 2 Gb elipda sticks that do Cas 6 1700 Mhz at 1.6v. I refuse to sell those since they are worthless now anyway and they are 2133 Mhz rated. If I get a dual / quad channel board in the future, I can use them for silly levels of OCing.

ATM theres no difference between Cas 6 2 Gb modules, and Cas 9 4 Gb modules in anything, My PC feels a lot quicker withe the 4 Gb modules, but Im going to try and sell them and go back to my 2 Gb ones until there are better 4 Gb modules available at a lower price.

(Cas 7 1600 mhz 4 Gb modules would be nice, but still too expensive).

I was on the verge of having a fan-boy accident, then saw the picture. :(

Guess I'll have to stick to Crucial/Corsair until they put some nice shiny heat spreaders on 'em and as Rroff said, some nice tacky looking PCB's. :D
 
I think AMD is up to something, maybe a surprise announcement to drop on us, in time for BF3 possibly.

Would have thought AMD would have better memory/ timings than what it has just release.
 
I thought this could be a real marketing opportunity to get branded ram to go with your dragon/leo/scorpius rig but epic fail with bland looks and rubbish timings :(
 
It would be great if AMD could make matching mobos, CPU coolers, graphics cards and ram modules (all red, or all black combinations would be fantastic with nice designs).

But no, they just have to make the blandest crap, and 2 Gb sticks of ram with the worst timings ever seen.
 
I just inadvertently discovered something after swapping my Cas 9 4 Gb modules back to my Cas 6 2 Gb ones:



My average FPS in the metro benchmark is up by 5!

That is quite a difference, it seems that memory timings do affect gaming performance even on X58. CPU + GPU settings were identical and I did multiple runs both times. My average FPS is up from 30 to 34-35 in every run I do now with the Cas 6 ram.
